I am going to throw some information at you to start this weeks column.
Did you know that Dalton Schultz is currently the 4th highest scoring tight end in fantasy football?
How about that Coradelle Patterson ranks third in targets for running backs on the season with 22. Only Najee Harris and D’Andre Swift have more targets at the running back position.
Opportunity. Its all about who is getting the targets and the touches week to week. Opportunity and volume are kings in fantasy football. Those who get the opportunity produce.
Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:
💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations
💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations
💰 Money Makers
Quarterbacks
Jacoby Brissett
He is playing against the world champion Buccaneers in Week 5. Tampa’s defense is great against the run but funnels the opposing team’s offense to the pass. Every quarterback so far to play against Tamp Bay has thrown for multiple touchdowns. Tamp Bay also gives up an average of 330 yards per game through the air. Look for Miami to throw just to try and stay in this one.

Mac Jones
Jones has played very well in real football but has not been usable in fantasy. Well, here is your week to play him. The Texans are the 6th friendliest defense to quarterbacks when it comes to fantasy scoring. Every quarterback to play this team has had multiple touchdowns. Even Mitchell Trubisky scored a TD on them in Week 4. It’s time to give him a go in your DFS lineup.

Daniel Jones
Danny Dimes is averaging 23.79 points per week on Fanduel. He is currently the 6th highest scoring QB in fantasy football after 4 weeks. In Week 5, the Giants play the Cowboys and the 4th worst defense at defending quarterback production in fantasy. In his last game, we got to see Sam Darnold light up the Cowboys for the top QB score of the week, expect Danny Dimes to produce this week.

Running Backs
Damien Williams
David Montgomery will be out for 4-5 weeks with a knee injury. In Week 5, the Bears play the Raiders. The Raiders give up an average of 94 yards and a touchdown rushing and 5 receptions and 35 yards per game to running backs. Williams is the starter in Chicago for the next 4-5 weeks. Are you picking up what I am putting down here?

Dalvin Cook
I don’t like to put obvious plays in here often. But in this case, I have to. The Vikings are playing the Lions in Week 5. The Lions are the second friendliest defense to running backs in fantasy football. The Lions give up 111 yards and 2 touchdowns per game to the running back position. Cook is worth the pay up this week.

Leonard Fournette
Lombardi Lenny had 20 carries for 91 yards and 3 receptions for another 47 yards receiving in Week 4. Now he is up against the Dolphins and their defense which gives up 123 yards and touchdown on the ground and another 7 receptions and 43 yards receiving to running backs in Week 5.

Wide Receivers
Devante Parker
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the kindest defense to wide receivers in fantasy football. Tampa gives up 20 receptions, 229 yards, and 2 touchdowns per game to wide receivers. Yes, this is the week to plug Parker confidently into your DFS lineup.

Laviska Shenault
The Jaguars are playing the Titans. The Titans have second-worst defense against wide receivers in fantasy football, allowing 15 receptions for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns to the position. The Titans were scorched by the Jets wide receivers for a total of 14 receptions, 263 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Look for Laviska and Marvin Jones Jr. to produce in Week 5 against the Titans.

$5,800 on Fanduel
Hunter Renfrow
Renfrow had a 24% target share in week 4. The Bears have been scorches by wide receivers on a weekly basis, especially in the slot. Cooper Kupp, Tyler Boyd, and even Amon-Ra St. Brown have piled up catches and yards against the Bears’ defense. Look for Renfrow to produce big in week 5 against the 4th worst defense against wide receivers.

Tight Ends
Mike Gesicki
Gesicki had a 20% target share in Week 4 and appears to be a favorite of Brissett’s. Tampa Bay is the opponent in Week 5 and they have given up 3 touchdowns in the last 2 weeks to tight ends and a ranked as the 3rd worst defense at defending the position. It’s pretty easy to call Gesicki a play in Week 5, right?

$5,600 on Fanduel
Dalton Schultz
The Giants aren’t very good against tight ends. The Giants give up 6 receptions for 53 yards and a TD on average to the position. Schultz had a whopping 36% target share in Week 4, getting him 6 receptions on 8 targets for 58 yards and a touchdown. The numbers match up pretty good, don’t they.

💔 Heart Breakers
Quarterbacks
Ben Roethlisberger
Big Ben looks like he has fallen off a cliff. There will be weeks when he is a play if the match-up is right as he has a very talented group of receivers. This week isn’t it. The Steelers play the Broncos. The Broncos give up the second fewest points to the quarterback position in fantasy. Yuck, I threw up in my mouth just thinking of playing him.
Matt Ryan
In Week 4, Ryan was a Money Maker, but this week he is a Heart Breaker. That is how big a difference a week can make in fantasy football. The Falcons play the Jets in Week 5 and the Jets believe it or not are very difficult against the pass. They have only given up 2 passing touchdowns on the season. Matty gets iced in Week 5.
Baker Mayfield
There is a defense I keep recommending you do not play QBs against. That is the Chargers. Even when a QB produces decent fantasy numbers against the Chargers defense they struggle to do it. The Chargers are the 5th toughest defense on quarterbacks in fantasy and poor Baker gets to play them in Week 5. Nothing cooking for Baker in Week 5.
Running Backs
Najee Harris
The Broncos are the toughest defense against running backs in fantasy. The Steelers play the Broncos in Week 5. I love Najee and will have him going in redraft, his volume makes it so he will most likely produce some numbers in Week 5, but there are more sure things to put your money on.
Austin Ekeler
The Browns are up in Week 5 for the Chargers and the Browns bring with them the second-toughest defense against running backs. This looks like a game where the Chargers will pass more than they run. If you have him you are playing him in redraft but avoid in DFS.
Melvin Gordon
Gordon has been getting it done this season in his timeshare. But Gordon and Javonte Williams are not guys I will be plugging into any DFS line ups in Week 5. Pittsburgh gives up the 4th fewest points to running backs. I am not split on my decision to sit both member of this backfield in Week 5.
Wide Receivers
Odell Beckham Jr.
He let me down last week, and in Week 5 the competition is a lot tougher as the Browns play the Chargers. You will see a lot of Chubb and Hunt in Week 5 and a lot less of Beckham. I miss the days of Eli Manning to Beckham myself but those days are long gone.
Calvin Ridley
Ridley has been getting a nice 31% target share. Which I love. I simply hate the match-up in Week 5 as the Jets defend the pass well. His touchdowns will come I just don’t think he piles them up in Week 5.
Brandin Cooks
We all love how consistent Cooks is. He seems to produce no matter which team he is on or who is throwing him the football. But the Patriots are good against the pass. They give up the 4th least amount of points to WRs in the league. Cooks is the Texans’ best weapon and I expect the Patriots to take him away as a big part of the game plan. Nothing cooking in the passing game for the Texans in Week 5.
Tight Ends
George Kittle
The Niners play the Cardinals in Week 5. The Cardinals give up an average of 23 yards per game to TEs and have not given up a touchdown to the tight end position yet this season. Looks more like a running and Deebo Samuel game to me for the Niners. Kittle will not taste the rainbow in Week 5.
Maxx Williams
Williams has been up and down the first 4 weeks of this season. He was up last week in a nice match-up against the Rams but in week 5 he has a bad match-up against the Niners. Williams will not max out in Week 5. He is a no-no for DFS.
