Money Makers and Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2019 – Week 6)

0

Tag Team, back again

Check it to wreck it, let’s begin

Party on party people let’s make some noise… like these two quarterbacks I keep writing about, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Gardner Minshew.  In Week 5, Fitzpatrick finished as the third-highest scoring quarterback and Minshew as the 13th. On the season Fitzpatrick is the current QB6 and Minshew is the current QB12 in scoring. These guys are simply producing and yet after multiple “Money Maker” and “add this guy” write-ups by me in my articles, Fitzpatrick is not highly rostered let alone in starting line ups and Minshew is only rostered on about 50% of teams.

If you are playing in a one quarterback league you should be considering both of these guys. If you are playing in a super flex or a 2 QB league and they are not starting there is clearly something wrong with you. Both Minshew and Fitzpatrick should be rostered in every league at the very least.

I am trying to help you here. I will admit though that if you play against me then just stop reading now and go back to tiddly winks, Dungeons and Dragons, watching porn or whatever it is you do when you aren’t reading my stuff.

These three words mean you’re getting busy.

Whoomp, there it is!

I just wanted some sort of a tune in your head so you can dance around while you read this.

So if you are new around here this is how it works:

Money Maker – I think this person will perform well this week and be better than expectations

Heart Breaker – These players will perform lower than projections

Quarterbacks

💰 Money Makers

Kirk Cousins – Has been pretty much mediocre so far this season. Last week he faced the third worst defense against quarterbacks and produced 249 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Not crap but also certainly not spectacular. This week he gets the Falcons and the friendliest defense to quarterbacks in 2020. I would expect another multiple touchdown game in week 6. ($7,100 on Fanduel and $6,100 on DraftKings)

Ben Roethlisberger – The Browns have been pretty good so far this season against the run, but against the pass they are the eighth friendliest defense to quarterbacks. Big Ben has thrown for multiple touchdowns in every game this season. 10 in total, meanwhile the Browns have given up 12 touchdowns to the passing game this season. Welcome to another multiple touchdown game for Roethlisberger. ($7600 on Fanduel and $6,700 on DraftKings)

Matthew Stafford – Stafford has thrown for multiple touchdowns in 3 out of 4 games this season. This week he gets the Jaguars defense that gives up an average of 284 yards per game passing and quarterbacks have scored 12 touchdowns against. Stafford is someone I am playing in season-long without question in Week 6. ($7300 on Fanduel and $6,300 on DraftKings)

Other quarterbacks I like in Week 5

There is the obvious: Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Deshaun Watson

The not so obvious: Cam Newton, Daniel Jones, and Gardiner Minshew

💔 Heart Breakers

Joe Burrow – Last week Burrow struggled against the Ravens 9th ranked defense against QBs and this week he gets the toughest defense against the position in the Colts. The Colts have given up only one 20 point game to a quarterback this season and that was to Gardner Minshew in Week 1.

Teddy Bridgewater – He was a money maker last week both figuratively and literally for me. I loved me some Teddy Bridgewater in Week 5. But guess what it is week 6 and Teddy gets to play the Bears defense this week. No quarterback has thrown more than 1 touchdown against the Bears and no quarterback has surpassed the 300 yard mark as well. Look elsewhere.

Others quarterbacks to avoid: Nick Foles, Philip Rivers, Kyle Allen, and Carson Wentz

Running Backs

💰 Money Makers

David Montgomery – Last week Monty has a decent game against the Buccaneers, 7 receptions for 30 yards, another 29 yards rushing <yawn>, and a touchdown. This week he gets to play the friendliest defense to running backs – the Panthers. The Panthers give up an average of 112 yards rushing, 8 receptions, and another 56 yards receiving to the running back position. You see where this is going right. Lots of touches, lots of yards and maybe a touchdown. ($ 5,900 on Fanduel and $5,800 on DraftKings)

Ronald Jones – What exactly does Ronald Jones have to do to get some respect from his coaches?  Last week against the Bears defense he had 125 total yards. This week he is playing a defense that is weak against the run. The Packers give up yards to running backs on the ground 93 per game and through the air 70 per game. RoJo will have a VERY good Week 6  ($5,000 on Fanduel and $6,000 on DraftKings)

James Robinson – I mentioned Robinson here last week and he was just average. But I have to have him here again as this week as he is playing the Lions who are currently the third kindest defense to running backs. He stays with his consistent number of touches with 18 in Week 5. He will maintain that touch total and if you know me, I am following the volume there. ($6,500 on Fanduel and $6,800 on DraftKings)

Other running backs to play

The obvious: Ezekiel Elliott, Derrick Henry, Mike Davis, Miles Sanders, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire

The not so obvious: Alexander Mattison, Todd Gurley, and Myles Gaskin

💔 Heart Breakers

Darrel Henderson – Henderson has been very productive when he is getting the touches.  The one thing we are learning about the Rams is that they may change who is getting the touches. Let’s mix that question in with they play the second-ranked defense against the run this week in the Niners. It looks like the Rams will throw, a lot.

Joe Mixon – You do see me put him here often don’t you? People are beginning to think I personally don’t like him.  I am sure he is a fine upstanding young man. I know all you film watchers want to argue and tell me how talented he is. I saw all the victory laps after week 4. So hey 1 out of 5 weeks he has really produced. 20% of the time you guys were right. This week he is up against the Colts and the third-best defense against the run. His volume is nice but the efficiency isn’t there. If you are playing him I hope he touches the ball 30 times again to at least make him playable.

Melvin Gordon/Phillip Lindsey – The Patriots are actually really good against the run.  So I don’t care which Broncos RB you are considering playing. Expect them to struggle. The Patriots have not given up 100 yards to a team on the ground as of yet. They have also only given up 1 touchdown to a running back this season, on the ground or through the air.

Other running backs that will cost you in Week 2: James Conner, Damien Harris, and Frank Gore

Wide Receivers

💰 Money Makers

Odell Beckham Jr. – Beckham appears to be riding a roller coaster this season, down one week and up the next.  He was down last week so… well… I think you get it right? It is a little more complicated than that but this week the Steelers and their pass friendly defense are up.  The Browns more than likely will be playing from behind and throwing. Beckham exploded against Dallas and the Brown will be looking for that kind of production this week as well. He is averaging 8 targets a game and those will be productive this week. ($6,700 on Fanduel and $6,400 on DraftKings)

NOTE: Whenever I say Odell Beckham Jr. I say it in my head like I am saying Barty Crouch Jr. when calling him to trial in the Harry Potter movie.

Jamison Crowder –  I was talking about him in this column, on Twitter, and Discord.  Right now his per-game averages are: 11 targets, 7 receptions, 111 yards, and he has scored 2 touchdowns this season. This guy is the primary option on his team and the Jets will have to throw the ball. The passing tree has one branch and that branch right now is Crowder.  (30% target share in week 5). The guy simply produces. ($6,600 on Fanduel and 6,100 on DraftKings)

Christian Kirk – Kirk is healthy and on the field. He is the second-best wide receiver on his team. In Week 5, he saw 7 targets for 5 receptions and 78 yards. In Week 6 he is going up against the Cowboys and the second-worst defense against the pass. Obviously Hopkins and Edmonds will do some damage in the passing game. So will Kirk.

Other wide receivers to play

The obvious: Adam Thielen, Deandre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, and Tyreek Hill

The not so obvious: Darius Slayton, Devante Parker, Will Fuller, and Julian Edelman

💔 Heart Breakers

DJ Moore  – The Bears are tough on the passing game. Only one wide receiver has over 100 yards against them this season. The volume hasn’t been there weekly for Moore and this week will be tough. We are most likely looking at another 4 catch 49 yards type game.

Amari Cooper – In Week 5, Cooper saw season lows – 4 targets, 2 receptions 23 yards.  The Cardinals are actually pretty good against the wide receiver position.  With a change at quarterback and a game script that more likely will have CeeDee Lamb heavily involved. I am not putting Cooper in my DFS lineups. Obviously, if you have him in season-long you are playing him.

TY Hilton –  In Week 5, Hilton got more involved in the offense with 6 receptions for 69 on 10 targets. The Bengals defense is actually pretty good against wide receivers, no one has a 100 yard game against them this season. So if you found last season giving you hope for Hilton I am here to remove your hope in Week 6. Don’t jump out a window or anything, I only mean hope in Hilton, not your entire life.

Other wide receivers will cost you: John Brown, Deebo Samuel, Tyler Boyd, and Golden Tate.

Tight Ends

💰 Money Makers

Irv Smith – Do you need a bye week fill-in? Or a guy to finalize your DFS roster with. Irv Smith, trust me make it him. He had 4 receptions for 64 yards in week 5, he has the Falcons up n week 6. The Falcons are the second-worst at defending tight ends. Tight ends average 6 receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown against the Falcons. They have given up multiple TD games to guys like Jimmy Graham and Robert Tonyan. ($4,300 on Fanduel and $2,500 on DraftKings)

Evan Engram – The Washington Football Team is very kind and loving to tight ends. They have given up 5 touchdowns this season to the position. Evan Engram is a tight end. The Washington Football Team will be nice to him. Because they give up a touchdown almost weekly to this position he may not even need high volume to produce. 6 receptions, 68 yards and a touchdown is literally what you can expect. ($5,600 on Fanduel and $4,900)

Other tight ends to play

The obvious: Jonnu Smith, George Kittle, Mark Andrews, and Travis Kelce

The not so obvious: Eric Ebron, TJ Hockenson, Austin Hooper

💔 Heart Breakers

Tyler Higbee – The Niners are pretty tough against the tight end, they are top ten against the position. He averages 3 targets a game. It’s fairly easy to see he needs to find his way to your bench. Truthers beware as Gerald Everett appears to be passing him for the Rams.

Robert Tonyan – We seemed to forget about you Mr. Tonyan over your bye week. Last time we heard from you was a 3 touchdown game. This is the guy leading all tight ends in touchdowns this season with 5 and yet I am still telling you not to expect too much from him in week 6.  Tampa is good against the position and he will need a touchdown to produce this week.

Other tight ends that will cost you: Dalton Shultz, Jimmy Graham, Tyler Eifert and Drew Sample

At The Undroppables, we’re always looking to inject more culture into our content. Believe it or not, there’s more to life than Fantasy Football, and we can help you in more ways than fantasy advice to offer a distraction from everyday life.

This started with Chef Beezy bringing you gameday eats like Monkey Bread and CMC Bites. As someone who loves watching and talking about movies, I wanted to bring the next series of lifestyle posts to our readers. This will be a monthly column of movie recommendations, featuring picks from various members of The Undroppables crew.

This month’s theme (of course) is horror movies. “Spooky SZN,” as the kids say, has been upon us for a couple weeks now, but there’s still plenty of time to check out some of the gang’s favorite horror films. If you ever have any recommendations of you own, you can always hit us up on Twitter. Hope you enjoy!

October Movies from @KayneRob

As a horror film junkie, there’s no way I could narrow my recommendations down to two movies. So, I have a pick for each subgenre of horror that I think you’ll love.

Paranormal Horror: The Conjuring. Quickly becoming a horror classical. This staple is the first of a 6-movie universe. The first is always the best and has great story development as well as good scares.

Slasher: The Strangers. This is a great horror film that is creepy and sure to make you check that your doors are locked afterwards. This is one of my all-time favorites and hope y’all like it as well.

Psychological Horror: Oculus. This is a film that keeps your brain constantly thinking and questioning what is real and what is a hallucination. It’s a film you definitely have to give your full attention, but is bound to give you a jump or two while making you question everything. This one can be found on Hulu.

October Movies from @2on1FFB

October Movies from @FantasyDukes

The first movie I’m going to recommend is a sort of subversive horror/comedy blend that serves up more ingenuity than it does scares. Scare Me (streaming on Shudder) is as original as horror movies come. The other movie I recommend is a bit older, but if you haven’t seen it you’re in for a treat. Green Room on Netflix is a grunge metal-infused bloodfest set in a backwoods Nazi club.

October Movies from @AndrewMackens

The Cabin in the Woods. A seemingly run-of-the-mill horror film at first glance, this entry into the horror genre produced by Avengers Writer/Director Joss Whedon uses every horror trope in the book to comedic effect, subverting your expectations for what the film is “supposed” to be. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of blood and gore to go around for everyone, and it can be streamed on Hulu or Prime Video.

Midsommar. Written and directed by rising star Ari Aster, Midsommar is bright, beautiful, and a disturbing trip for a group of college vacationers getting in too deep with a Swedish community. Jordan Peele has called this one, “The most idyllic horror film of all time,” and I would concur it’s worth a watch for the visuals alone. This one is also available on Prime Video.

The Stream Option (Fantasy Football 2020 – Week 6)

0

The Stream Option is a weekly article where The Undroppables explore the best options at Quarterback, Defense, and Tight End that should be available in most leagues.
*Note: ESPN rostership rates were gathered on 10/14/2020 and are subject to change.

Quarterbacks

Jared Goff – LAR @ SF

Jared Goff has been a common streaming choice for me this season. The weapons that surround him on the offense along with McVay’s play-calling can lead to big weeks for Goff, who is currently the QB10 on the season. In Week 6, he’ll see a favorable matchup against the Niners defense that just let Ryan Fitzpatrick have a massive game last week. While the Niners defense should be good on paper, they have suffered so many injuries this season that they aren’t competing at their expected level. Overall, Goff has strung together some good performances this season and as long as the Rams continue to pass the ball this week, Goff should be a strong option at only 57.3% rostership on ESPN.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – MIA vs NYJ

Fitzpatrick currently sits as the QB7 on the season and has scored over 20 fantasy points in each of his last four games, but is only rostered in 26.5% of ESPN leagues. Fitzpatrick is a strong addition to any team until Tagovailoa takes over, including in week 6 against an average-at-best Jets defense. He should be rostered in most, if not all, leagues.

Tight Ends

Irv Smith Jr. – MIN vs ATL

The Atlanta Falcons currently rank as the second-worst defense in the NFL against fantasy tight ends and have given up solid performances to Greg Olsen, Dalton Schultz, Jimmy Graham, and Robert Tonyan. Furthermore, they could struggle even more this week as a new interim coaching regime takes over the team. Meanwhile, Irv Smith has been quiet this season, but he finally showed his skill last week in Seattle with four catches for 64 yards on five targets. If he can continue to increase his role in the Vikings offense, he clearly has the skill to be a strong fantasy option at the position. Smith is only rostered in 4.5% of ESPN leagues.

Robert Tonyan – GB @ TB

While Tampa Bay has been solid against Tight Ends this season, this choice is more about the player than the matchup. Tonyan’s role in the Packers’ offense has been growing all season, with performances of 10.5, 16, and 33.8 from weeks 2-4. Surprisingly, he is only rostered in 63.3% of ESPN leagues even though he is the TE5 on the season.

Defenses

Giants D/ST – NYG vs. WAS

The Washington offense looked even more pedestrian last week with Kyle Allen and Alex Smith at the wheel than they did with Haskins starting. Meanwhile, the Giants defense has been a surprise in fantasy, currently ranked as the 11th best defense on the season. The Giants Defense is only rostered in 1.7% of ESPN leagues, so they should be available to stream.

Dolphins D/ST – MIA vs. NYJ

I’ll start any defense against a team starting Joe Flacco at quarterback. This obviously includes a Miami defense that has four interceptions in the past three weeks and is currently the 16th best defense in fantasy. The Dolphins are only rostered in 3.1% of ESPN leagues, so they are also likely available in your leagues.

UNtangling the Waiver Wire (Fantasy Football 2020 – Week 6)

Week 5 saw some crazy things happen that are definitely causing you to read this article.  Dak Prescott went down with a gruesome season-ending injury, Dalvin Cook hurt his groin, and a couple of wide receivers broke out in a big way.

I went with a larger number of quarterbacks than normal as I know many people had Dak plugged in as a weekly starter and will need help filling that void.

NOTE: This column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo leagues and ESPN Leagues.

Quarterbacks

We’re starting this off with guys I have mentioned multiple times in this space as waiver pickups.  The first two are actually top-10 quarterbacks right now on the season and not heavily rostered!

Ryan Fitzpatrick – There was magic in the air when the Dolphins met the Niners in Week 5. 350 passing yards and 3 touchdowns worth of magic to be exact.  Next up are the Jets.  Fitz has passed for multiple touchdowns and/or thrown for over 300 yards in the past 4 games.  The Dolphins passing game is rolling.  Fitzpatrick is currently the overall QB9 in fantasy.  21% rostered in Yahoo and 19% in ESPN.  10% FAAB.

Gardner Minshew – If you follow me on Twitter, then you know I have a special place in my heart for Minshew-mania.  In Week 5 he passed for 301 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has multiple touchdowns in fours games this season and his worst game he threw for 275 yards.  This guy is simply spreading the ball around and getting it done.  Next up is the Lions and their very friendly pass defense.  51% rostered in Yahoo and 56% rostered in ESPN (I know that breaks the rules but not by much) 10% FAAB

Derek Carr – The raiders are on a bye Week 6, but don’t let that stop you from adding Carr if you know you need a QB. He has passed for at least 1 touchdown in each game this season and has multiple touchdowns in 4 out of 5 games.  With Ruggs showing amazing deep ball plays in Week 5, this passing offense looks like it is opening up big time. He has a very friendly schedule for the rest of the season.  21% rostered in Yahoo and 15% in ESPN. 8% FAAB

Justin Herbert – He has 3 touchdowns in each of the past two weeks. Herbert spreads the ball around exceptionally well for the Chargers.  Watching him play is wonderful.  He was mentioned here last week as well, where I mentioned you could expect the multi touchdown game against the Saints (he delivered in the first half).  Rostered in 52% of Yahoo leagues and 35% in ESPN.  10% FAAB

Other Quarterbacks to consider: Andy Dalton

Running Backs

Alexander Mattison – Dalvin Cook is questionable for Week 6 with a groin injury.  Mattison took over in Week 5 and gained 112 yards on the ground and 24 more yards receiving.  He will be a primary add if you are have Cook rostered.  This guy has proven in the past he will produce, and he faces the Falcons in Week 6. 41% rostered in Yahoo and 41% in ESPN. 22% FAAB

Chase Edmonds – Edmonds is heavily involved in the Cardinals passing game with 6 targets in each of the last 2 games.  He has also found the end zone in each of the past two weeks.  With Drake looking less than spectacular, Edmonds appears to be capitalizing and increasing his usage in the passing game more and more. A must-add in PPR.  61% rostered in Yahoo but on 46% rostered in ESPN. (Mentioned here last week) 12% FAAB

J.D. McKissic –  If you are playing points per receptions and are running back needy, I would look at McKissic.  He has been targeted 8 times in each of the past two games with 7 receptions for 40 yards in Weeks 4 and 6 receptions for 46 yards in Week 5.  In Week 5 he led the team in targets and receptions, having a 27% target share.  I like it; I like it a lot in PPR.  6% rostered in Yahoo and 14% in ESPN. 5% FAAB

Other running backs to consider: Justin Jackson and Damien Harris

Wide Receivers

Chase Claypool – 116 total yards and 4 touchdowns makes you notice Claypool.  Diontae Johnson left the game early and Claypool more than made the Steelers happy. Claypool also had 88 yards and a TD in Week 3, so this is not a fluke.  I wouldn’t expect 4 touchdowns to become a weekly event, but he is a must-add at wide receiver right now.  17% rostered in Yahoo and 8% rostered in ESPN.  Top add this week.  25% of FAAB

Travis Fulgham – Claypool got all the press, but Fulgham got 13 targets for 10 receptions, 152 yards and a touchdown.  This was a whopping 37% target share in Week 5. The Eagles have been hurting at wide receiver, and Fulgham filled that void in Week 5.  In Week 4 Fulgham had 2 receptions for 57 yards. 3% rostered in Yahoo and 0% rostered in ESPN.  10% FAAB

Brandin Cooks – Dropped by many fantasy teams after Week 4, Cooks shows up on our radar with a 12 target, 8 receptions, 161 yards, and a touchdown in Week 5. He should be rostered. His target share was 34% in Week 5, the most thus far this season for Cooks. 44% rostered in Yahoo and 60% in ESPN.  10% FAAB

Henry Ruggs – Ruggs was only targeted 3 times and had 2 receptions, but gained 118 yards and had a touchdown.  His target share is going to increase and now is a good time to make the add.  44% rostered in Yahoo and 48% in ESPN. 15% FAAB

Laviska Shenault – Shenault has at least 6 targets in each of the last 3 games.  Week 5 brought 7 receptions for 79 yards.  D.J. Chark left the game with an ankle injury and did not return.  You can expect Shenault to continue to grow his role in the Jaguars passing attack. 34% rostered in Yahoo and 32% in ESPN.  10% FAAB

Mike Williams – 5 receptions for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Williams and Herbert appear to be a match made in heaven.  A quarterback with a big strong arm and a wide receiver that burns down the field. Rest of season schedule for this passing attack is beautiful by the way.  40% rostered in Yahoo and 34% in ESPN.  6% FAAB

Other wide receivers to consider: Preston Williams and Christian Kirk.

NOTE: I am throwing out a caveat here for all of you, I am not going nuts over the top waiver adds this week myself as I don’t personally have need at wide receiver.  I think you can expect the two top wide receiver options to be heavily pursued. As such, I will be VERY happy to get Shenault and Ruggs if available in my leagues.

Tight Ends

Jimmy Graham – Graham has totaled 20 targets in the past 3 games for 13 receptions, 123 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Its about time we take notice that he is being utilized by the Bears in the passing game. 40% rostered in Yahoo and 53% in ESPN. 3% FAAB

Austin Hooper – With 5 targets in each of the last two games, it appears the Browns have decided to get Hooper involved in their passing game. If he can maintain the targets, Hooper will at least be playable at TE.  55% rostered in Yahoo and 45% in ESPN. 2% FAAB

Other tight ends to consider: Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate.
