Money Makers and Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 5)

If you didn’t know, I got a kitten this year. He is a Maine Coon Cat. They get big, and some of them can get real big. Well, Snowball is one of the ones that can get REAL big. This little guy isn’t little and is eating me out of a house and home. He eats and eats and eats, and then he grows and grows and grows.

He scratched me playing the other day, and I bled everywhere; my hand looked like a bobcat mauled me. By the way, he is bigger than a bobcat. The completely damaged two fingers I am looking at while I type – because I have to look at the keys sometimes – is what made me think to tell you all about him. I probably should have gotten stitches.

Anyways, enough about my pet that you don’t care about, and let us get on to the football-related things you care about.

If you are new here, this column can help you handle some sit/start questions you might have, but its primary purpose is to take you through the main DFS slate weekly with players that will make you money and players that will break your heart.

Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:

💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations

💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations

💰 Money Makers

Quarterbacks

Zach Wilson

The Dolphins have given up over 287 yards and multiple touchdowns in the last three games. Wilson threw the ball 36 times in his first week back, passing for 252 yards and a touchdown. He has good chemistry with Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Tyler Conklin. This is an excellent spot for Wilson to drop bombs like he dates moms.

$7,200 on Fanduel

Jared Goff

Goff went Super Saiyan in Week 4 against a Seahawks defense that had fared relatively well against quarterbacks in fantasy before that game. The Patriots give up the ninth most points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. The Patriots haven’t given up a lot of yards to quarterbacks, but they have given up touchdowns. Quarterbacks have scored nine touchdowns in the first four weeks. The Lions must throw to stay in games, even when the opponent is starting a third-stringer.

$6,100 on DraftKings
$8,000 on Fanduel

Carson Wentz

The Titans have given up multiple touchdowns in every game this season to quarterbacks. Quarterbacks have also surpassed 300 yards in each of the last three games. When Wentz has a clean pocket, he has produced this season. The Titans are a neat and tidy team to play against, so that pocket will be squeaky clean as it always is. I see a multiple touchdown day in Week 5 for Wentz

Other quarterbacks for Week 5

Bailey Zappe

$5,100 on DraftKings

Teddy Bridgewater

Running Backs

James Robinson

Robinson put up a stinker in Week 4. That was last week. In Week 5, he gets to play against the Texans. The Texans give up the most points to the running back position. Robinson has scored in 3 out of 4 games this season. The Texans have given up monster days to running backs in 3 out of the first four games. Running backs average 141 yards and a touchdown rushing against the Texans. Robinson will bounce back in a big way in Week 5.

$6,300 on DraftKings
$8,000 on Fanduel

Damien Harris/Rhamondre Stevenson

The Lions allow the second most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. Six running backs scored double-digit against the Lions in the first four weeks. Last week Rashad Penny gored the Lions for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Stevenson has had the more significant portion of the snap share with 29 more snaps than Harris, but Harris had scored the touchdowns. Both will produce in Week 5.

Damien Harris

Rhamondre Stevenson

Nick Chubb

Nick Chubb has been dominating the first four weeks of the season. This season, he is one of the two top-scoring running backs in fantasy. In Week 5, the Browns play the Chargers. The Chargers give up the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. This one couldn’t be any easier. I know you are playing him in season-long leagues. It’s time to pay up in DFS as well. Everyone should play with a little Chubby this weekend.

Wide Receivers

Curtis Samuel

Samuel came into the season piping hot but cooled down the last two weeks. Well, in Week 5, things get easier again as the Commanders play the Titans in Week 5. The Titans give up the fourth most fantasy points to wide receivers. Jahan Dotson is out, which will condense the passing tree for the Commanders. Samuel already leads the team with a 22% target share and a 72% catch rate. Samuel will be in command in Week 5.

$5,800 on DraftKings
$5,800 on Fanduel

CeeDee Lamb

Lamb has a 33% target share for the Cowboys this season. The volume is fantastic. Meanwhile, he is playing against the team that gives up third most fantasy points to wide receivers, the Rams. There have been six double-digit fantasy scores this season by wide receivers against the Rams. They give up an average of 212 yards a game to wide receivers who have scored six touchdowns against the Rams in the first four weeks of the season. CeeDee will score a TD in his third straight game.

$7,000 on DraftKings
$7,200 on Fanduel

Corey Davis

Zach Wilson targeted Davis a team-high seven times in his first week back. That’s a 19% target share. Davis turned that into five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown. The Dolphins allow the fifth most points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. All of the stars align for Davis in Week 5: soft defense, a quarterback that can get him the ball, and team-leading volume. What is not to like?

Other Wide Receivers for Week 5

Amari Cooper

Robert Woods

$5,200 on DraftKings
$5,900 on Fanduel

Stefon Diggs

$8,400 on DraftKings

Tight Ends

Dallas Goedert

The Eagles play the Cardinals in Week 5. The Cardinals allow the second most points to opposing teams’ tight ends. The Cardinals give up 85 yards, and a touchdown to tight ends weekly. The Eagles have been flying high, and it’s a wonderful week to plug Goedert into lineups.

$4,700 on DraftKings
$6,100 on Fanduel

Tyler Conklin

Conklin is averaging seven targets per game. The Dolphins give up, on average, seven receptions and 73 yards to tight ends. I like Conklin to see 5 to 8 targets surpassing 70 yards. Conklin has a 16% target share and a 72% catch rate. He is an excellent inexpensive play in DFS against a bottom-ten defense covering his position. It’s difficult not to like that.

$3,700 on DraftKings

Cameron Brate

T.J. Hockenson

💔Heart Breakers

Quarter Backs

Baker Mayfield

The Niners’ defense is the toughest on opposing teams’ quarterbacks. They have only given up one game of over 200 yards passing, and only one quarterback has thrown for a touchdown against them. Meanwhile, Mayfield has been epically pathetic. Mayfield has thrown for a touchdown in every game this season, but he has only broken 200 yards once and has not scored 20 fantasy points yet. It isn’t happening this week, either. No one is playing Mayfield unless they have had head trauma.

Kenny Pickett

Pickett got some time on the field in Week 4 and played pretty well. But the Bills are up in Week 5, and the Bills give up the second-fewest points to quarterbacks in fantasy. Another case of you aren’t playing him in season-long or DFS. If you are playing him, you are desperate like any port in a storm. I hope you aren’t that desperate; it would be just sad.

Kyler Murray

Whoever is playing against the Eagles this season, I pretty much have as a heartbreaker weekly. The Cardinals play the Eagles this week; look here; the Cardinals quarterback is a heartbreaker. I don’t care what he has done against other teams. No one has scored more than 16 points against the Eagles this season. The Eagles’ are more formidable than the Cardinals. Say no-no to Kyler in DFS.

Running Backs

Ezekiel Elliott

Zeke has been a low-grade running back so far this season. In Week 5, he is going up against a defense with one touchdown and one double-digit fantasy score to running backs this season. You probably think I will say play him in season-long with his name, but I am not. Zeke has been breaking your heart for four straight weeks; he makes it five this week. Another icky performance from Zeke this week.

Christian McCaffrey

Despite what I read on Twitter, CMC has been good this season. This week though, he is going up against a Niners team that gives up the second lowest amount of points to opposing teams running backs. I am playing him in season-long leagues and feeling good about it, but I wouldn’t pay up for him in DFS this week. At least he isn’t making me throw up in my mouth.

Tyler Allgeier

The Buccaneers were the most challenging defense against running backs until Clyde Edwards-Helaire torched them in Week 4. Allgeier is not Edwards-Hellaire; the Falcons are certainly not the Chiefs. Suppose you added him off waivers; good for you. If you played him expecting great things in Week 5, I could only say HA-HA. What do you want me to do? I said Ha-ha.

Wide Receivers

Michael Pittman

I think the Colts are bad. I think the Colts’ passing game is terrible. In Week 5, the Colts play the Broncos. The Broncos are the most formidable team for wide receivers to score fantasy points against. I am avoiding Pittman in DFS. If you have him in season-long, you are probably playing him. I hate that acidic taste the vomit leaves in your mouth after things like this.

Justin Jefferson

Jefferson is a stud. He is outstanding. He may even crack double digits against the Bears this week. If he does, he will be only the third wide receiver to do it this year. He has been a little boom/bust this season. This week is bust. He is another guy you are playing in season-long, but you should avoid paying up for him in DFS.

Diontae Johnson

DJ had two receptions for 11 yards in Week 4. If Pickett is starting, you can expect his massive volume you are used to dropping like it did in Week 4. To top it off, the Steelers are playing the Bills, and the Bills give up the 5th fewest points to wide receivers. Everything is looking bad for Johnson in Week 5. EVERYTHING! Less volume, tough defense, yuck, yuck, and more yuck.

Tight Ends

Tyler Higbee

Higbee has been the second option in the Rams’ passing game, which has helped some of us in fantasy quite a bit. But this week, the Rams play the Cowboys. The Cowboys give the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. If Higbee can get double-digit target volume, he can probably be usable. If the Cowboys clamp down, and they will, he won’t. Let Higbee be and play an actual money maker instead.

Pat Freiermuth

You just read about how good the Bills are against wide receivers; guess what? Don’t make me tell you, think. OK, ok, I’ll let you. The Bills are the second-best defense against tight ends. Not a single tight end has surpassed 40 yards receiving against them. In Week 4, they even held Mark Andrews in check with only two receptions and 11 yards. Freiermuth has been a decent play most weeks, but not this week.

Will Dissly

Dissly has not seen a lot of targets. But he has seen primarily red zone targets and has three touchdowns in 4 games. It almost sounds like I am going to tell you to play him. But I’m not. It’s the opposite. In Week 5, he plays against a Saints defense that has not allowed a tight end to score 4 points or more. Horrific play this week.

Review from Week 4

Julio Jones – Finished WR92 on the week, excellent trim. Chris Godwin is getting healthy, Mike Evans is back from suspension, and Cole Beasley is now making this WR room crowded.

Robbie Anderson – Finished WR64 on the week, pretty good trim. Unfortunately, Baker Mayfield and Matt Rhule are ruining what could be an entertaining offense to watch.

Hunter Henry – Finished TE45 on the week, excellent trim. This is just sad. Now onto their third quarterback and Jonnu Smith getting hurt, Hunter had opportunities to step up but didn’t.

Albert Okwuegbunam – Finished WR48 on the week, excellent trim. No targets?! Drop him in your dynasty leagues as well at this point.

*Note on a previous article on George Pickens, it looks like I might be taking the L on that early with Kenny Pickett taking over and have better chemistry with him than Chase Claypool. I will be writing about that this week.

Injuries will make this week tougher to cut and may be more straightforward for you if you are hurting. Read Mike Reedy’s Untangling the Wire this week to ensure you add real value. Then, start your razors; let’s trim up those rosters!

Chase Claypool (WR – Pittsburgh Steelers)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 56% Ownership
ESPN – 76% Ownership
Sleeper – 70% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Season Ranking – WR76
Week 2 Finish – WR68
Week 3 Finish – WR59
Week 4 Finish – WR128

As I noted earlier, I picked the wrong Steelers WR to cut. Chase looks like an absolute bum, playing like he doesn’t have a contract on the line. Cut ties with him and re-add George Pickens back if you can. Pickens might be a league winner…

Allen Robinson (WR – Los Angeles Rams)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 89% Ownership
ESPN – 85% Ownership
Sleeper – 89% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Season Ranking – WR73
Week 2 Finish – WR23
Week 3 Finish – WR78
Week 4 Finish – WR85

Allen Robinson, we thought he was just in a lousy system last year. And that still could be true, but he does not look good out there. Very high ownership based on the name and the offense he is in. Are you feeling good starting him at any point in the future?

Darrell Henderson Jr. (RB – Los Angeles Rams)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 79% Ownership
ESPN – 65% Ownership
Sleeper – 77% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Season Ranking – RB39
Week 2 Finish – RB21
Week 3 Finish – RB67
Week 4 Finish – RB43

Cam Akers is starting to see more snaps; trending went down in Week 4 with the blowout win by the 49ers. Tough to call which week either running back will be effective. And right now, their offensive line will render each running back less efficient than in years past for this Sean McVay offense. I think Cam Akers will take over this backfield by midseason, but truthfully I want neither.

Matthew Stafford (QB – Los Angeles Rams)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 93% Ownership
ESPN – 88% Ownership
Sleeper – 89% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Season Ranking – QB25
Week 2 Finish – QB10
Week 3 Finish – QB27
Week 4 Finish – QB29

Is there a trend this week? I think so; this offensive line for the Rams is killing everyone. Stafford will be tough to drop, but from the off-season elbow injury to these line woes, Stafford has underperformed. Two straight weeks without a touchdown, look to stream other options at this position until Stafford and the Rams can figure something out.

Untangling the Waiver Wire (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 5)

Some waivers from last week worked out great as actual plays in Week 5. Hopefully, some of the people listed below will work out for you in Week 6. We have some injuries to monitor in Jonathan Taylor and Javonte Williams at running back.

As we get more information, I will tweet out my thoughts.

NOTE: If you are new here, this column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper Leagues.

Quarterbacks

Geno Smith

Geno Smith? I know, I know he is Geno Smith. Add Geno if you are in a 2 QB league or VERY needy at QB. Let’s not go crazy here, but Geno has had over 320 yards and multiple touchdowns for two weeks in a row. Geno has had multiple touchdowns in 3 games this season. He is currently the QB 10 on the season. That is the good news. The bad news is the Saints are up next.

Zach Wilson

Wilson looked rusty starting the game yesterday. He then came back and played pretty well down the stretch. He had two total touchdowns and over 250 yards passing. If I were hurting at quarterback, I would consider adding Wilson. He produced with usable fantasy numbers at the end of last season and has good players in the skill positions. However, the team isn’t great and will be throwing to stay in games. The Dolphins, who give up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks, are up next.

9% rostered on ESPN
22% rostered on Sleeper

Jared Goff

He was in this article last week, and technically I am breaking my rules because he is 52% rostered. But he was the highest-scoring quarterback on Sunday. He has multiple touchdowns in 3 out of 4 games this season, with mine touchdowns over the past three weeks. Unfortunately, the Lions’ defense is so bad that this team will have to throw and score against everyone they play.

Other quarterbacks to consider if you are desperate:

  • Bailey Zappe – He is the next man up for the Patriots. All 2 QB leagues should take notice.
  • Teddy Bridgewater – 193 1 TD in relief for Tua. He is starting for now.

Running Backs

Tyler Allgeier

Had 11 touches for the Falcons in Week 4. He turned that into 104 total yards. Allgeier can undoubtedly play. Patterson is dinged up pretty good, and Allgeier split carries with Huntley. Allgeier looks more explosive and also saw a pass. Huntley got the touchdown. With Patterson going to IR, Allgeier is my top waiver priority at running back this week.

16% rostered on Yahoo
16% on ESPN

32% on Sleeper
20% Free Agent Budget

Raheem Mostert

Led the team in running back touches with 17. He took his 15 carries and ran for 69 yards. He had 72% of the snaps at running back. At the same time, Edmunds got the touchdowns, Mostert for most of the usage. This is a backfield trending more towards Mostert taking it over. If I can’t Allgeier, I want Mostert.

Latavius Murray

He walked off the street and carried the ball 11 times for 57 yards and a touchdown for the Saints in Week 4. He split the workload almost evenly with Mark Ingram. This was a total shocker that he hit the field and played well. If you have the need and/or Kamara, he may be a better solution than Ingram.

NOTE: Signed by the Broncos TODAY! Speculative add with Boone and wait to see how their roles play out.

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:

  • Caleb Huntley – 56 yards rushing, TD
  • Mark Ingram – 30 yards rushing, three receptions for 13 yards receiving
  • Mike Boone – 29 total yards

NOTE: Boone could become a top addition off the waiver wire as we get more information. We do not know the status of Javonte Williams at the moment.

Wide Receivers

Corey Davis

With Zach Wilson back, I like Corey Davis for the rest of the season. He has seven targets for five receptions, 74 yards, and a touchdown in Week 4. He has double-digit scores in three out of the four weeks of play. I didn’t trust him much with Flacco and his noodle arm, but Davis (and Elijah Moore) are much more attractive, with Zach leading the attack.

25% rostered on Yahoo
6% on ESPN
29% on Sleeper
15% Free Agent Budget

Josh Reynolds

We expected a good week from Reynolds once we knew Amon-Ra St. Brown would be out. But if you weren’t paying attention, Reynolds now has three straight weeks of double-digit scores in fantasy. He has two touchdowns over that span, along with 21 targets, 16 receptions 215 yards in total. He is the Lions’ number 2 wide receiver, and they will throw the ball a lot.

20% rostered on Yahoo
10% on ESPN
33% on Sleeper

George Pickens

I am excited about the quarterback change for the Steelers. Pickens is probably more excited than I am. He has seen an uptick in targets the past two weeks, with week 4 bringing a breakout game. Eight targets for six receptions and 102 yards. Great addition if you need a WR this week

39% rostered on Yahoo
37% on ESPN
58% on Sleeper

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Michael Gallup – 3 targets, two receptions, 24 yards TD
  • Alec Pierce – 6 targets, four receptions, 80 yards
  • Isaiah McKenzie – 6 targets, four receptions, 21 yards, TD
  • Jamal Agnew – 6 targets, five receptions, 50 yards, 2 TDs

NOTE: Everyone will be telling you to add Michael Gallup. I agree. I placed him among other guys to consider as I wanted to talk about a couple of other players.

Tight Ends

Tyler Conklin

A new quarterback in the lineup. Conklin still had five targets, three receptions, and 52 yards. He still had a 14% target share. Next week he is playing against the Dolphins, who give up the 5th most points to opposing teams’ tight ends. I will plug and play Conklin myself.

42% rostered on Yahoo
38% on ESPN
53% rostered on Sleeper
20% Free Agent Budget

Will Dissly

Dissly has double-digit scores in 3 out of 4 weeks of the season. He consistently sees targets in the red zone and scoring touchdowns. So if you are tight end needy, and let’s face it, almost all of us are, add him and play him. I know he is touchdown-dependent, but so is every other tight end. Geno is looking at this one, you know. I threw this dart myself in Week 4.

Other tight ends to consider:

  • Mo Alie-Cox – 6 targets, six receptions, 85 yards, 2 TDs
  • Hayden Hurst – 4 targets, three receptions, 27 yards, TD
  • Robert Tonyan – 2 targets, two receptions, 22 yards, TD

Money Makers and Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 4)

This is my third season writing this article, and many times, people read the Money Makers and tell me I am crazy. Other times, they look at the Heart Breakers and say, “you can’t tell me not to play so, and so that guy is a stud”. There are very few real “studs” in fantasy. I will get some wrong; it happens. But, I also get a lot correct. I am more OK when a Heart Breaker hits and people tell me I was wrong than if a Money Maker busts and breaks my heart.

Why? Why Michael (yes, I am using my full first name as if I am talking seriously to myself in the third person)…where was I? oh, yeah. Why Michael? Why? Do you take chances on the upside, and why are you not afraid to play the guy in the great matchup?

I don’t know if you watch Rick and Morty, but I can sum it all up with this quote:

“To Live Is to Risk It All. Otherwise, You’re Just an Inert Chunk of Randomly Assembled Molecules Drifting Wherever the Universe Blows You.” – Rick Sanchez

I want to live; I want you to live; I want to feel alive. So let’s take some risks, which I have mitigated because Rick is drunk a lot in the show, and I am not drunk all the time in real life.

Let’s Make Some Money and Break some Hearts!

Josh Allen

The Bills are playing the Ravens in Week 4. The Ravens give the second most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Allen has scored the second most fantasy points this season. Every quarterback to play the Ravens has thrown for over 300 yards. Josh Allen has over 300 yards (combined) and multiple touchdowns in every game this season. It is almost like this one is writing itself. Pay up for Allen this week; he will be worth it.

$8,400 on DraftKings
$8,900 on Fanduel

Jacoby Brissett

Brissett is playing against the Falcons in Week 4. The Falcons have given up an average of 20 points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Every quarterback to face them has passed for multiple touchdowns and 260 or more yards. Brissett has played relatively well and has thrown four touchdowns in the first three games. He will throw two more in Week 4.

$5,500 on DraftKings
$6,800 on Fanduel

Geno Smith

Geno has two games this season with multiple touchdowns. This week he plays against a Lions team that has given up five passing touchdowns over the last two weeks. The Lions give up the third most points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Every quarterback has either 300 total yards and/or multiple touchdowns against the Lions.

Running Backs

Rashaad Penny

The Lions give up the most points to running backs in fantasy. The Lions have given up six rushing touchdowns over the season’s first three weeks. While they have not given up a 100-yard rushing game, five running backs have scored double-digit fantasy points against them this season. If Penny is going to do it, this is the week

$4,900 on DraftKings
$6,700 on Fanduel

Jamaal Williams

Williams is having a good season. He has scored four touchdowns thus far in 2022. Swift is injured, and Williams will take over as the lead back for the Lions. Williams has 12 touches in the redzone which is where all 4 of his touchdowns come from. The Lions play the Seahawks in Week 4. The Seahawks give up a double-digit score to opposing teams running backs every week of the season.

$6,100 on DraftKings
$7,400 on Fanduel

Khalil Herbert

After a huge Week 3, he will probably be chalky, but that is OK. Herbert had 169 total yards and two touchdowns in Week 3. He faces the Giants, who gave up five double-digit fantasy scores to running backs in the first three weeks of the season. The Bears don’t pass much so they will run the ball through Herbert.

Breece Hall

$5,400 on DraftKings
$6,300 on Fanduel

Wide Receivers

Stefon Diggs

I know it’s obvious because he is the top-scoring wide receiver in fantasy that you should consider playing him. But it’s even better than you think this week. The Ravens give up the most points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. They are so friendly to the position that Devante Parker had a personal best of 156 yards against them in Week 3. So Diggs will bring his 27% target share and 79% catch rate up against the Ravens in a game with a 51.5 over/under shootout!

$8,400 on DraftKings
$8,700 on Fanduel

CeeDee Lamb

Lamb has a 31% target share with 11 or more targets in each game this season. The volume is fantastic. Meanwhile, the Commanders give up the third most fantasy points to wide receivers. There have been five double-digit fantasy scores this season by wide receivers against the Commanders. They give up an average of 217 yards a game to wide receivers, who have scored five touchdowns against the commanders in the first three weeks of the season. Lamb will take his volume and produce in Week 4.

$6,700 on DraftKings
$6,800 on Fanduel

Michael Pittman Jr.

The Titans gave up six touchdowns to wide receivers in 2022 while also bleeding yards. Pittman has double-digit scores in each game he has played this season. He has 22 targets for 17 receptions, 93 yards, and a touchdown in 2 games. That is a 26% target share and a 77% catch rate. The Colts’ passing offense goes through Pittman; this is a good week for that to happen.

Tight Ends

David Njoku

Njoku has a 19% target share of the Browns’ passes. He also had a big breakout game in Week 3 with nine receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. But that was last week. This week he goes up against the second friendliest defense to tight ends, the Falcons. So far, the Falcons have given up a double-digit score to a tight end in every game this season. Njoku will keep that streak alive in week 4.

Geoff Swaim

This season, the Colts have given up eight or more fantasy points to tight ends. They have also given up three touchdowns to the position. Swaim is a TD-dependent player. This week he scores a touchdown. I know, I know we are grasping at straws here.

💔Heart Breakers

Quarter Backs

Lamar Jackson

I expected people to go nuts when I had Tua here last week. Instead, the Bills’ defense held him to 11 fantasy points. The Bills’ defense gives the fewest points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Stafford, Tannehill, and Togovailoa have all been completely held in check. If any quarterback can do well against the Bills’ defense, it is Jackson. I would be playing him in season long, but there is no way I will pay for him against this defense in fantasy. I just hurt my feelings typing this out because I love Jackson.

Tua Tagovailoa

Tua was held in check by the Bills last week. This week he gets a Bengals who are also exceptionally tough on opposing teams’ passing games. They also haven’t played anyone of the quality of Tua. Tua is dinged up from the Bills, and I don’t like this matchup. I would avoid playing him in all formats this week.

Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence was here last week and made me look foolish by saying yuck. He had a great game. This week the Jaguars play the Eagles. The Eagles defend the pass, especially to wide receivers, exceptionally well. So temper your expectations if you are trying to ride his last week’s production; remember that it was last week. I like Lawrence for season-long play, though; super fun team to watch.

Running Backs

Josh Jacobs

The Denver Broncos are the third-best team against running back in fantasy this year. The Broncos have given up 0 touchdowns to running backs and have yet to give up a 100-yard rushing game this season. Jacobs looked good last week, but OMG, avoid him if you can in Week 4. Sorry, Tommy. (@2on1FFB is a big Raiders fan).

Aaron Jones

If you have A-A-Ron in season long, you are playing him. I am myself. But in DFS, do not pay for him this week. Why? Why? Mike, Jones is a fantasy stud! Tampa shut him down last week. The Patriot defense is also no slouch against the run. Only Najee Harris has hit double-digit fantasy points against the Patriots this season. No running back has surpassed 60 yards, and they have given up 0 touchdowns to running backs thus far. Sorry but I am entirely out in DFS. It feels icky.

Samaje Perine/Joe Mixon

Only one running back has scored a touchdown against the Miami defense this season. That was Devin Singletary last week. No running backs have passed 50 yards rushing yet against them. This is a good defense against the run. Mixon is dinged up if he plays; if not, I am also out on Perine. I can feel the throw-up in my mouth, making me queasy.

Wide Receivers

Davante Adams

The Broncos have been the best team against wide receivers in fantasy points. They have not played any great passing offenses yet, though. I am still out on Adams in DFS; in season-long, you are playing him. Anything could be in the range of outcomes for him in this game. I don’t like that. Mitigate risk in DFS and play someone with more upside this week. It feels dirty but also feels so good. Let’s face it; you perverts sometimes dirty does feel good.

Tyreek Hill

The Bengals give up the fourth fewest points to wide receivers in fantasy. There is hope here for Hill. Noah Brown is the only wide receiver to score a touchdown on this defense. I wouldn’t be surprised if Waddle or Hill does. But which one? The matchup is terrible. Avoid it in DFS.

Romeo Doubs

The Patriots’ defense is an excellent real-life defense. They are tough against the run and tough against the pass. Meanwhile, the Packers’ passing offense is not so good. Doubs had an excellent game last week; that was last week. I am not touching this guy in Week 4. I am not touching him with your hand. We are not touching him. Did you get that? I hope you did; I am just trying to help.

Tight Ends

Mark Andrews

The Bills’ defense is good. The Bills’ defense is outstanding. They give up the fourth fewest points to tight ends in fantasy. Mark Andrew is also excellent; he is so good he makes good tight ends look bad. For season long, I am playing him no matter what. In DFS, I’ll look elsewhere this week. This hurts me to type almost as much as calling Jackson a heartbreaker. I may have broken my own heart writing this.

Logan Thomas

The Cowboys’ defense is also excellent and good against tight ends. This year, the most points scored against them by a tight end so far is six. Six points, hell, that might be start worthy points from a tight end this season but let’s shoot for more for that if we can and not less than that. The Commanders passing attack is pure volume based with talented receivers and a so/so quarterback. There are too many nooks and crannies in this English muffin.

Dallas Goedert

Goedert has been pretty good this season. The Jaguars’ defense is excellent. Tight ends have only seven receptions against this defense so far this season. He could be the person to do well against this defense. But, come on, who am I kidding? It’s not going to happen. No tight end has more the three receptions and 45 yards against this defense. No, no, no to Goedert.

Review from Week 3

George Pickens – Finished WR64 on the week, pretty good trim. Unfortunately, that offense cannot support multiple pass catchers right now.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling – Finished WR53 on the week, pretty good trim. Getting decent targets, but JuJu is starting to be the WR to own for the Chiefs.

Cole Kmet – Finished TE27 on the week, excellent trim. He finally got some action! Still not enough to warrant a roster spot.

Darnell Mooney – Finished WR77 on the week, excellent trim.  This offense is awful; Mooney is droppable.

Trends are starting to form, and decisions are becoming easier and easier to make! There might be some big names this week, but I feel confident you can pair this article with Mike Reedy’s Untangling the Wire. You can backfill with some absolute values. Let’s get to trimming!

Julio Jones (WR – Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 61% Ownership
ESPN – 70% Ownership
Sleeper – 74% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – WR39
Week 2 Finish – NA
Week 3 Finish – NA

Are we hoping that Julio will become healthy and become his former self? Mike Evans and Chris Godwin will be back, and Russell Gage and Breshad Perriman looked to be serviceable. However, I can’t imagine a scenario where you would feel confident starting Julio in a lineup; please send him back to the waiver wire and pick up someone else.

Robbie Anderson (WR – Carolina Panthers)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 28% Ownership
ESPN – 51% Ownership
Sleeper – 38% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – WR10
Week 2 Finish – WR81
Week 3 Finish – WR97

Every year, his name ends up on this series at one point. This year, however, it’s not his fault. Baker Mayfield has ruined the fantasy potential for all Panthers this year, and it’s been devastating. We are not looking at cutting Christian McCaffrey or DJ Moore, but the WR2 on a poor offense, Robbie, unfortunately, can be cut until something significantly changes for that offense.

Hunter Henry (TE – New England Patriots)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 42% Ownership
ESPN – 57% Ownership
Sleeper – 39% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – TE35
Week 2 Finish – TE56
Week 3 Finish – TE52

Once a surprise weekly starter for the 2021 season, he has been relegated to doing absolutely nothing in fantasy. Hunter should be on every waiver wire after this week with only five targets on the season through three weeks. Tyler Conklin is a great TE to grab right now.

Albert Okwuegbunam (TE – Denver Broncos)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 43% Ownership
ESPN – 21% Ownership
Sleeper – 49% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – TE16
Week 2 Finish – TE65
Week 3 Finish – TE47

Albert would be the underneath threat for Russel Wilson while he cooked up defenses this year. Unfortunately, Denver has yet to light the grill even to start cooking. So Albert will also be low on the pecking order; look for another option to stream.
