Untangling the Waiver Wire (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 4)

The injury bug has really hit in Week 3, with players like David Montgomery, Dalvin Cook, and Mac Jones all getting injured.

We also have some wide receivers I would be paying attention to if I were you. It was an exciting football week where many people we thought would produce are turning out to give us average fantasy numbers at best, and other people are coming out of the woodwork.

NOTE: If you are new here, this column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper Leagues.

Moving into Week 4, the highest priority people I would have on waivers are Khalil Herbert (49% Yahoo) and Alexander Mattison (55% Yahoo). If one of these guys is available in your league, they are the top 2 waiver wire additions. Herbert meets the qualifications for this article, so that I will write about him.

Quarterbacks

Trevor Lawrence

Lawrence was written about in the column last week as someone you may want to consider. In Week 3, Lawrence threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns. We do need to pay attention to him now. I would make the add if you need a quarterback and he is available. He is currently a top 10 QB in fantasy, although next week he will get tested against the Eagles

Jarod Goff

I may have written about him just about every week in this column. He wasn’t great in Week 3, with only 277 yards and 1 TD. But he will most likely get you 250 and 2 touchdowns weekly—currently the QB11 on the year in fantasy scoring.

Marcus Mariota

He was quietly providing some middle-of-the-road value at QB. Mariota has two touchdowns in each of the past two weeks. He always brings some value by being a threat to run the ball. If you have a need, he can get you some value at the very least. He is currently the QB13 on the season in standard scoring.

Other quarterbacks to consider if you are desperate:

  • Jacoby Brissett – 220 yards 2 TDs, Falcons up next
  • Brian Hoyer – in 2 QB Leagues

Running Backs

Khalil Herbert

With David Montgomery injured, Herbert is the clear top priority for the waiver wire. Twenty-two total touches in Week 3. Those touches netted him 169 total yards and two touchdowns. On Monday morning, Herbert was the highest-scoring running back for Week 3. He looks explosive; the Bears want to run, as evident by the league’s lowest number of passes thrown and completed. Everything says plug me in your lineup.

J.D. McKissic

McKissic was in this article last week as part of other running back you may want to add. If you are playing PPR, he is a good bye week fill-in. He has, at the least, three carries in each game this season; he had six receptions on nine targets for 32 yards in Week 3. That was a 21% target share, most likely game scripted because the Commanders were down big to the Eagles. The Commanders should be down big often.

Samaje Perine

It appears Joe Mixon got hurt during the game. Perine posted 61 total yards and a touchdown on 11 touches. He will be a decent addition if Mixon is to miss time. I do not know the extent of Mixon’s injury right now. I will make Perine a speculative addition where I can. You may want to do that as well

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:

  • Dontrell Hilliard – 14 yards rushing, one reception for 30 yards
  • Mark Ingram – 18 yards and TD
  • Jamaal Williams – 107 total yards and 2 TDs

Wide Receivers

Mack Hollins

In the past two weeks, Hollins has seen 18 targets. He has turned that into 13 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown. In Week 3, he tied Devante Adams for the lead in Raiders targets with 10, which is a 23% target share. Hollins is involved and producing.

Greg Dortch

I wrote about him last in this column. I talked about him on podcasts as someone that would produce in Week 3 big time. He has ten targets for nine receptions and 80 yards in Week 3. He is putting up WR2 numbers week in and week out. Targets have gone up because he catches everything thrown his way. DORTCH will SCORCH.

Zay Jones

Jones has a 28% target share in Week 3, leading all Jaguars receivers. He had 11 targets, ten receptions for 85 yards, and a TD. He has double-digit scores in two of the season’s first three weeks and is hardly rostered. We need to change that.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Isaiah McKenzie – 9 targets, seven receptions, 76 yards, TD
  • Tyler Boyd – 5 targets, four receptions, 105 yards, TD
  • Romeo Doubs – 8 targets, eight receptions, 73 yards, TD
  • Tre’Quan Smith – 5 targets, four receptions, 105 yards

Tight Ends

Tyler Conklin

Here I am writing about him yet again. This is the third time I have mentioned Conklin in this article. Consider him again this week. With a 20% target share in Week 2, nine targets got him six receptions and 40 yards. He followed that up in Week 3 with eight targets for eight receptions and 84 yards. PPR gold at TE right now, and the TE4 on the season.

David Njoku

He finally had his breakout game. Njoku had ten targets in Week 3, second on the Browns only to Amari Cooper. This was a 30% target share. Njoku turned that into nine receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. I am not saying you can expect this weekly but with the wasteland that the tight end position, I’ll take what I can get.

  • Robert Tonyan – 7 targets, six receptions, 37 yards

Money Makers & Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 3)

Week 3 is here. We have seen some insane things like the resurgence of quarterbacks we thought were left for dead. Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, and Jared Goff all have fantasy relevance. All three are top 10 fantasy quarterbacks after two weeks. They all have good skill players to throw the ball to and use high-volume passing attacks.

These guys weren’t the only surprises; Nick Chubb is the running back 1 right now. I liked him coming into the season, but I wasn’t expecting overall RB1 to be in the conversation. It might be.

Let’s not overreact, but some of these things are becoming a trend and not a one-off statistic. In Week 3, we will get to prove which things are trends and which are anomalies. Sorry for boring you with the nerd talk there. I was starting to get excited about data. If that doesn’t tell you exactly how “cool” I am, nothing does. Yay data!

Let’s move on to the Money Makers and the Heart Breakers for Week 3.

This column can help you handle some sit/start questions you might have, but its primary purpose is to take you through the main DFS slate weekly with players that will make you money and players that will break your heart.

Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:

💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations

💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations

💰 Money Makers

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford

The Cardinals are next and have been the second friendliest defense to quarterbacks in fantasy. Stafford had a rough Week 1 but bounced back in week 2 with 272 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have given up seven touchdowns over the season’s first two weeks. This is another 300 yards and two touchdown day for Stafford.

$6,500 on DraftKings
$7,700 on Fanduel

Kirk Cousins

Kirk bounces back against the Lions and their third-worst defense against the quarterback. Can you say shootout? I am not the only person that thinks this will be a shootout. Vegas has the over-under at 53.5, the highest total for the week. The Lions give up an average of 300 yards and two touchdowns to quarterbacks in fantasy. It’s not on Monday night Cousins won’t Cuz you this week.

$7,600 on DraftKings
$6,700 on Fanduel

Josh Allen

Yes, it’s easy to play Allen in redraft. But if you want to pay up in DFS, this is an excellent week to do it. In fantasy, the Dolphins give up the fourth most points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. This is the second highest over-under on the main slate at 52.5. Allen has been his usual studly self through two games. He has had over 300 total yards and four touchdowns each of the first two weeks. Stack some Bills to stack some bills this week in DFS.

Jared Goff

Running Backs

Dalvin Cook

Another Viking that wasn’t amazing in week 2? Cook is outstanding, and the Lions’ defense against running backs is terrible. Like, the worst against opposing running backs in fantasy. The Lions have given up three double-digit fantasy scores to running backs over the first two weeks of play. They have given up a total of 5 rushing touchdowns as well. Dalvin will get cooking in Week 3.

$7,900 on DraftKings
$8,300 on Fanduel

Joe Mixon

The Jets give up the 5th most points to running backs in fantasy. This is mainly because Chubb scored three touchdowns on them last week. The Bengals need to get something going. Mixon has been involved in both running and catching the ball. This week, he should have 20 odd touches to help the Bengals get over their Super Bowl hangover.

$7,600 on DraftKings
$8,200 on Fanduel

Mark Ingram (Alvin Kamara if he plays)

The Saints are playing the Panthers in Week 3. The Panthers have given up 258 yards rushing to running backs over the first two weeks on 54 carries. That is 4.8 yards per carry. I like whoever is running the ball for the Saints to produce a double-digit fantasy day like three other running backs have this season.

Damien Harris

Wide Receivers

A.J. Brown

The Washington Commanders give up the 6th most points to wide receivers in fantasy. Brown has an overall 35% target share on the season with a 71% catch rate. With his skillset and volume, you can expect him to produce against a defense with three double-digit fantasy scores in the first two weeks.

$7,300 on DraftKings
$8,000 on Fanduel

Marquise Brown

I am betting on his volume with a team-leading 136 snaps and a 20% target share. Brown also leads the team with a 41% share of air yards. The Rams give up the second most points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. So look for Brown to capitalize this week. You might want to consider Greg Dortch as well in DFS.

$6,000 on DraftKings
$7,000 on Fanduel

Jakobi Meyers

If you want a floor play, this is the guy in Week 3, especially in PPR. The Ravens give up the most points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. Meyers has a 29% target share and is Mac Jones’ safety blanket. He also has 35% of the air yards. He is a solid player in cash games this week in DFS.

$5,000 on DraftKings

Other Wide Receivers for Week 3

Devante Adams

$8,400 on DraftKings

Breshad Perriman

$5,300 on Fanduel

Amon-Ra St. Brown

$7,200 on DraftKings
$7,800 on Fanduel

NOTE: There are a lot of nice plays at wide receiver in Week 3.

Tight Ends

Tyler Higbee

The Cardinals are currently the friendliest defense to tight ends in the league. They have given up three touchdowns to the position over the season’s first two weeks. Match that with Higbee seeing 20 targets over the first two games of the season, giving him 27% of the Rams’ target share, and we have a winning proposition. Higbee sees ten targets, gets six catches, some yards, and scores a TD in Week 3.

$4,500 on DraftKings
$5,700 on Fanduel

Dawson Knox

Miami gives up the second most points to tight ends in fantasy. Knox is seeing the second most snaps as a receiver for the Bills this season and has a 10% target share. He had five targets for four receptions and 41 yards in week 2. It’s time for him to score a TD in Week 3.

$4,100 on DraftKings
$5,300 on Fanduel

Tyler Conklin

Conklin has played 146 snaps, most out of any Jet that catches the ball. He also has 16 targets for ten receptions, 56 yards, and one touchdown over the first two games. This volume-based play can undoubtedly pay off in season long and most likely in DFS.

$3,800 on DraftKings
$5,200 on Fanduel

Other Tight Ends for Week 3

Travis Kelce (easy pick this week)

💔Heart Breakers

Quarter Backs

Tua Tagovailao

Tua gets the Bills and their top-ranked defense against opposing teams’ quarterbacks. They have five interceptions over the first two games. I love Tua after his Week 2 huge breakout game, but I avoid him in DFS. However, I would still start him in redraft if I had to.

Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers had a tough opening week but bounced back in Week 2. Unfortunately for Aaron, the Buccaneers have been exceptionally tough on quarterbacks in the first two games. They have given up only one passing touchdown and not too many yards. Avoid Rodgers at all costs in DFS.

Russell Wilson

Word out is Wilson is changing his nickname to Mr. Limited. He has been VERY limited. I have him rostered, and I am sitting him in redraft. So if you want to play him in DFS, send me the money, and we can pretend you just lost to me.

Running Backs

Devin Singletary

Miami has been the stingiest defense against running backs in fantasy. Singletary hasn’t been great on top of that. So, this was a very easy do not play him anywhere stance for me. This means he’ll blow up, and I’ll have to eat a bunch of boneless buffalo wings to feel better.

Jeff Wilson

Denver has been the second toughest defense against running backs in fantasy thus far this season. I still like Wilson in season-long if you need a running back but don’t play him in DFS. As the 49ers starting running back he could potentially get yards and a TD any week.

James Conner / Cardinals RBs

The Cardinals are playing the Rams; there are a lot of money makers in this game, Cardinals’ run game is not one of those. The Rams have not had a running back get over 50 yards on the ground against them yet this season. No running back has even broken double digits. Nothing to see here. YUCK.

Wide Receivers

Courtland Sutton

Sutton is a season-long play, but I’m not too fond of this match-up. I wouldn’t say I like it. Wilson has just been bad. The Niners haven’t played a good passing attack yet, which continues in week 3. So I don’t like the Broncos passing attack at all.

CeeDee Lamb

Only one wide receiver has scored a touchdown against the Giants this season. I know CeeDee was OK last week, but the Giants D is better than the Bengals’ Defense. Also, CeeDee hasn’t been good. Twenty-two targets and only nine receptions for a 40% catch rate, YUCK. All that lack of production with 30% target share and 41% air yards share. So even though I hate him this week, the data tells me good things are coming. Maybe you should trade for him after this week.

Michael Thomas

So I love Thomas, and I am not totally against playing him. This week’s match-up is against a top-rated defense against wide receivers, but they haven’t played anyone. With Winston’s back injury, though, I am tempering my expectations for Week 3.

Tight Ends

Kyle Pitts

40% catch rate YUCK. 17% target share, YUCK. 19 receiving yards in the first two games, double YUCK. If you want to score 3.9 points in PPR, then Pitts is your guy, as he has done this in two straight weeks. He does have consistency going for him.

Albert Okwuegbunam

One of the most hyped guys on Twitter this off-season. He has eight targets for five catches and 33 yards. I am entirely out on him until he shows me something. I know you have been waiting for this. If you read this column, I did throw up in my mouth.

Dallas Goedert

Goedert has been pretty good this season as far as tight ends go. The Commanders have been very good against tight ends, though. The Commanders have played two pretty good tight ends, and neither has surpassed 28 yards. So I am not expecting very much.

Review from Week 2

James Cook – Finished RB47 – Decent trim (Lots of garbage points from blowout)

Kadarius Toney – Finished WR102 – Excellent trim

Mike Gesicki – Finished TE6 – I still think this is worth trimming, his long TD saved his week and I know TE is a wasteland, but there are now other more consistent options, not TD-dependent.

With now two weeks’ worth of data, we can start making the tougher decisions on who to remove from our rosters or not.  There might be some big names this week, but I feel confident you can pair this article with Mike Reedy‘s Untangling the Wire you can backfill with some real values. Let’s get to trimming!

George Pickens (WR – Pittsburgh Steelers)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 49% Ownership
ESPN – 44% Ownership
Sleeper – 98% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – WR116
Week 2 Finish – WR91

Too much competition at the position, and not enough attempts to get everyone a fair share.  Diontae Johnson, Pat Freiermuth, Chase Claypool, and Najee Harris are all leading the first targets.  Pickens will be very impactful in the future, so dynasty rosters will keep him around. But until an injury occurs, a change in the OC, AND a change in the quarterback, Pickens can get sent to the wire in season-long leagues.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (WR – Kansas City Chiefs)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 39% Ownership
ESPN – 69% Ownership
Sleeper – 92% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – WR57
Week 2 Finish – WR90

Patrick Mahomes was correct, they will be distributing the ball around this year.  MVS’ targets went up in Week 2 but for anyone watching the game, most were not great and he just so happened to be the closest WR.  With Travis Kelce and Clyde Edwards-Helaire being the vocal points of the offense, and JuJu Smith-Schuster will be a factor, I’d rather find another option on the waiver wire the stashing Valdes-Scantling.

Cole Kmet (TE – Chicago Bears)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 68% Ownership
ESPN – 64% Ownership
Sleeper – 94% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – Last
Week 2 Finish – Last

I will be the first to admit, that I was wrong about Cole Kmet for this season. The expectation was a massive positive regression in passing attempts for this team.  I projected it that way, that they would be throwing it 35+ times a game from being behind.  We saw in Week 2 they are hellbent on just running the ball, even down multiple scores.  Kmet is averaging one target a game and no catches on the season.  Cut him, and start streaming the position.

Darnell Mooney (WR – Chicago Bears)

Rostership Percentages:
Yahoo – 86% Ownership
ESPN – 92% Ownership
Sleeper – 92% Ownership (Includes dynasty)
Week 1 Finish – WR112
Week 2 Finish – WR112

I will start by saying, you don’t have to cut him! But we are not starting him anymore.   The same reason for Kmet but the draft capital you spent on Mooney and his potential far outweighs what Kmet is worth for your roster.  I just, thought there was a chance the Bears’ offense would be good from a column perspective. But only 11 passing attempts in Week 2 and that’s in a very negative game script, I am at a loss.

Good luck with your waivers this week and start turning your team around for Week 3 and on! Please follow me on Twitter for all Redraft advice and my weekly articles at The Undroppables!

Untangling the Waiver Wire (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 3)

Week 2 was more about quarterbacks and tight ends than anything else. I hope you won the Curtis Samuel sweepstakes last week. Maybe the best waiver add of the season when all is said and done.

NOTE: If you are new around here this column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper Leagues.

Quarterbacks

Carson Wentz

I am breaking the rules with Wentz as he is rostered in 52% and not under 50%. If he is available add him. He has passed for over 300 yards and 3 or more touchdowns in both games this season. He simply should be rostered and in lineups in every league.

Jarod Goff

Goff doesn’t have the yards Wentz does but he has passed for over 200 yards and multiple touchdowns in both games this season. He has had very good fantasy production and if you are QB needy, say you drafted Wilson. Maybe you should take a chance on Goff and watch him connect with Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Joe Flacco

I thought we were done with Joe. But now he looks like Broadway Joe. He has over 300 yards in both games this season and had 4 touchdowns against the Browns in Week 2. We simply cannot ignore Broadway Joe and his noodle arm anymore. The next matchup is the winless Bengals who have lost to Mitch Trubisky and Cooper Rush led teams this season. At the very least the Jets look like they might win. Broadway Joe will dink and dunk his way to another 300 yards in Week 3.

Other quarterbacks to consider if you are desperate:

  • Trevor Lawrence – 235 yards 2 TDs
  • Mac Jones – 252 yards TD

Running Backs

Darrel Williams

James Conner went down with an ankle injury. Eno Benjamin is listed as his direct backup on the depth chart. But, Williams stepped in and had 8 carries for 59 yards and a TD and saw 3 targets for 2 receptions and a whopping 3 yards. He got the goal line carries. Williams also out-snapped Benjamin 40 -37.  If Conner is out I want Williams.

Eno Benjamin

Whenever I see Eno’s name I think of Emo Phillips. Emo is a comedian, a very weird comedian so I don’t know why I make this correlation every time, other than the one letter difference in their names. Eno’s role didn’t change all that much with Conner out hurt. He saw a few more carries going from 4 carries in Week 1 to 8 carries in Week 2. He saw the same number of targets in the passing game. He also returns kicks. If you need an RB with a decent floor I like Eno. Probably good for 7 -9 points per week in PPR whether Conner is out or not.

Raheem Mostert

In Week 2 Mostert got 11 carries and turned that into 51 yards. He also saw 3 targets which he turned into 3 receptions for 28 yards. He has a 100% catch rate on the season so far. It looks like the coaching staff is moving him ahead of Chase Edmunds who has been ineffective. In Week 2 Mostert passed Edmunds in snaps as well with 39 to Edmunds 36.

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:

  • D. McKissic – 10 touches and 63 total yards in Week 2
  • Travis Homer – 4 targets, 4 receptions, and 33 yards
  • Mark Ingram – 12 touches 63 total yards

Wide Receivers

Garrett Wilson

Wilson has seen a combined 22 targets in the first two weeks. In Week 1 he turned 8 targets into 4 receptions and 52 yards and in Week 2 he turned 14 targets into 8 receptions, 102 yards, and 2 touchdowns. That is a huge 31% target share, which he produced in a big way with.

23% rostered on Yahoo
69% on ESPN
61% on Sleeper

Jahan Dotson

Dotson has seen 5 targets in each of the first 2 games of this season. He has three touchdowns over these two games. Wentz looks for him and he delivers. This is a team that will be passing the ball a lot this season. Dotson appears to be getting the touchdowns at least for now.

43% rostered on Yahoo
60% on ESPN
65% on Sleeper

Noah Brown

Apparently, Cooper Rush and Noah Brown have some chemistry. Brown was targeted 5 times and had 91 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. With Dalton Schultz going to miss time with a PCL injury there are more targets available.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Greg Dortch – 71% of the snaps, 13 targets, 11 catches 118 yards, and a TD this season
  • Breshad Perriman – Evans is suspended for Week 3. He will fill in nicely
  • Jakobi Meyers – 13 targets, 9 receptions, 95 yards, 37% target share
  • Cole Beasley – He is what Brady needs

Tight Ends

Tyler Conklin

I know, I know, his name has hit the waiver wire in past seasons, and nothing ever really happened. He was mentioned in this article last week as someone to consider. Consider him again this week. 20% target share in Week 2 which was 9 targets which got him 6 receptions and 40 yards. PPR gold at TE right now.

Hayden Hurst

Consistent numbers so far this season. In Week 1 he had 8 targets netting 5 receptions and 46 yards. Hurst followed that up in Week 2 with 7 targets for 5 receptions and 24 yards. He plays 81% of the snaps and has a 20% target share. Not a bad addition at a rough position.

Money Makers & Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2022 – Week 2)

I hope you survived Week 1. If you lost this past week, remember it’s only one week. We will adjust as the season progresses. That is how you make more money in DFS and win more in your season-long leagues. Learn and modify, learn and adjust, adapt or die. In this case, adapt or lose.

A friend of mine once told me, “Experience is the best teacher. But, unfortunately, it’s also the cruelest” With that in mind, remember every failure in fantasy football; life is a lesson you get to take the next day.

Enough about philosophy and more about fantasy football; let’s get this thing started.

This column can help you handle some sit/start questions you might have, but its primary purpose is to take you through the main DFS slate weekly with players that will make you money and players that will break your heart.

Quarterbacks

Carson Wentz

Wentz opened his Commander’s career in a big way, with 313 passing yards and four passing touchdowns on 41 attempts. HUGE volume! I had him as a starter in my other article. This week he gets the Lions. This Lions’ defense gave up 243 yards passing and 90 yards rushing to Jalen Hurts in Week 1. Wentz and his team should be in command in Week 2

Derek Carr

This week Carr gets to play the Cardinals’ nonexistent defense. The Cards got shredded last week by Patrick Mahomes. I know Carr is not Mahomes, but last week he threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns against a Chargers defense that is very good. Look for some numbers this week from the Raiders.

Matt Ryan

Do you know who threw the ball 50 times last week? Matt Ryan did. He turned all that volume into 352 yards and one touchdown. In Week 2, he plays the Jaguars team that gave up 313 yards and four touchdowns to Wentz in Week 1. I like Ryan in Week 2.

Running Backs

Saquon Barkley

Barkley showed us that he is healthy and loves his new offense in Week 1. The Giants used their best offensive weapon often. Barkley racked up yards rushing (164) and caught passes (6 receptions for 30 yards), and he topped it off with one touchdown. Barkley had a 33% target share. That was last week, though. This week he gets to feast on a Panthers defense that was shredded by the Cleveland Browns running backs in Week 1. They gave up 187 yards, one touchdown rushing, another five receptions, 26 yards, and a touchdown receiving. Barkley is back!

Antonio Gibson

Two weeks ago, Gibson was looking like a special teams player. Then a Tonya Harding-like event happens, and he is the starter again. Gibson gets a Lions team that the Eagles ran all over in Week 1; they gave up the fourth most points to running backs. He also got a lot of looks in the passing game; he had a 22% target share. He is going to run; he is going to catch, and he is going to score fantasy points for you in Week 2.

Josh Jacobs

Jacobs was MEH in Week 1. You may have regretted playing him. Every week is different in the NFL season. The Cardinals gave the second most fantasy points to running backs in Week 1. The Raiders play the Cardinals in Week 2. Are you picking up what I am putting down? Look for Jacobs to score in Week 2.

NOTE: Everyone will be playing Dameon Pierce. I love him in cash games, but I will avoid him in GPP contests.

Wide Receivers

Cooper Kupp

All the way up with Cooper Kupp! The Falcons were terrible against the Saints’ wide receivers in Week 1. They gave up a total of 212 total yards and two touchdowns to the Saints wideouts. Meanwhile, Stafford will throw to Kupp no matter what; he targeted him 15 times in Week 1. Double coverage doesn’t matter; triple coverage doesn’t matter; just keep throwing to my breakfast buddy. WHY? Because it works. Kupp had a 37% target share and 87% catch rate and caught 13 of those passes. So if I am paying up anywhere in DFS Week 2, it’s Kupp.

Michael Pittman Jr.

Pittman loves his new QB. He was the fourth-highest-scoring wide receiver in Week 1. Pittman had a 26% target share in Week 1. This week he plays against the Jaguars team that gave up four touchdowns to opposing wide receivers in Week 1. Pittman is looking good to score one or maybe even two touchdowns in Week 2.

Curtis Samuel

Samuel is healthy. He is someone that was a significant waiver addition after Week 1. The Commanders are playing the Lions in Week 2. The Lions gave up most of their yards to AJ Brown in Week 1. Samuel had a 24% target share in his first week back to active football, so Wentz looks for him often. I like Samuel to get some volume as a receiver and potentially do some damage running the ball in Week 2.

NOTE: So many good wide receivers I like this week. Ja’Marr Chase is also someone I would pay up for; just running out of space.

Tight Ends

Mark Andrews

Andrews had the highest target share of a tight end in Week 1 with a 24% share of the Ravens’ passes. He caught five of those for 52 yards. The Dolphins were tough on the Patriots’ tight ends last week, but this is Andrews. Look for another five catches for 53 yards and a TD as he gets more involved.

Dalton Schultz

After Dak Prescott went down, Schultz’s targets went up. He ended the day with nine targets for six receptions and 62 yards. Probably my favorite tight-end play this week. He closed Week 1 with a 22% target share which was third behind Andrews and Travis Kelce.

Zach Ertz

The Cardinals play the Raiders in Week 2. The Raiders struggled against Chargers tight ends in week 1. The Chargers’ tight ends totaled six receptions for 78 yards and a TD against the Raiders in Week 1. Ertz only had 11% targets share in Week 1, but he scored. He is healthier for the Week 2 game. I am more than OK with rolling him out for another TD in Week 2.

💔Heart Breakers

Quarter Backs

Jameis Winston

Tampa Bay is up in Week 2. If you follow me, you know I love Winston. Well, he will break your heart in Week 2. Tampa was pretty tough on the Cowboys in Week 1. You probably aren’t playing him in season-long leagues. Don’t play him in DFS as well.

Daniel Jones

New coaches, new offense, healthy Barkley. Still YUCK. This week he is playing a good Panthers defense which was scorched on the ground last week. The Giants’ offense will go through Barkley in Week 2. This passing game is making me ill.

Joe Burrow

Joe was in this portion of the article last week too. He threw four interceptions and was sacked seven times, he still had a good day, so I was wrong. You are playing him in season long, but the Cowboys held Brady in check. Look for Mixon to carry the day. He will probably throw four touchdowns now, all to Chase.

Running Backs

Cam Akers/Darrell Henderson

I feel bad if you drafted him as a starting running back on your season-long team. This is probably a no-brainer, as he played horribly in Week 1. Sometimes I need a gimme just like everyone else. Henderson will lead this rushing attack in Week 2 just like he did in Week 1. Don’t play Henderson in DFS as well. No Rams running backs in DFS this week.

Rex Burkhead

Un-Sexy Rexy was productive in Week 1. The Broncos were tough on the Seahawks’ running backs in Week 1. Rex was someone people added off the wire this week. That doesn’t mean you should go nuts playing him in DFS. You might get a few more weeks of him being useful in season-long, though, which is not bad.

Alvin Kamara

Kamara had a crappy Week 1. Taysom Hill dominated the run game on four carries. Winston only targeted him four times in the passing game. If you have him in season-long, you are playing him but in DFS, just stay away. My stomach is getting queasy.

Wide Receivers

Brandin Cooks

He is the primary guy in the Texans’ passing game. He is one of my favorite floor play guys in season-long. I am playing him in season-long leagues, by the way. In DFS, there are just too many better options this week. I love his 33% target share and all he does; I don’t want him in my DFS lineup.

Giants Wide Receivers

You can name them if you want. I don’t want to play any of them in Week 2. This is the Saquon Barkley show. I love him, and I do not love anybody catching the ball for the Giants. Yuck, yuck, and more YUCK. Wan’Dale Robinson and Kadarius Toney have broken my heart so early in the season.

CeeDee Lamb

He saw 11 targets, and he turned that into two receptions for 29 yards. I just threw up, not the usual in my mouth but all over my table. So, that is an 18% catch rate on a 27% target share. Good thing I have a bucket. BLAAAHHHHHHH.

Tight Ends

Kyle Pitts

As mentioned last week, I love Pitts in season-long. He had a tough Week 1; I said that would be the case here in this column. The Rams are bad against wide receivers but good in the middle of the field. For Pitts to have any success, they will have to line him up more outside. I hope they do. The season gets easier after this.

Hayden Hurst

Hurst saw eight targets in Week 1, with a bunch of people jumping on the bandwagon. The Dallas defense isn’t as horrible as it seems. I like the Bengals’ offense to flow through Mixon and Chase in Week 2. Look for Hurst as a complimentary piece, but nothing worth playing in DFS.

NOTE: So many bad or iffy tight ends. I could write about them all day in this section. If you are wondering who to play at tight end in DFS this week, the answer is Dalton Schultz in the main slate.
