Flexing (Fantasy Football 2021 – Week 13)

Are you looking for the perfect flexing Week 13 options to put into your lineup? Do not worry, as I have you covered with the top flexing plays each week. The formula is simple. I look at running backs and wide receivers starting with the RB25/WR25 and dig deeper. I use FantasyPros ADP for the rankings and its one-point PPR. Fantasy Points are translated to FPs.

Running Backs

Matt Breida, BUF

Matt Breida has earned a foothold in the Buffalo Bills offense and compliments Devin Singletary. Breida, in the last three weeks, has caught six passes and has scored three times. Also, Breida has the speed to take it to the house at any given moment. Buffalo has increased Breida’s carries each week and has hit double-digits FPs in two of the last three contests. The Patriots struggle in stopping the run allowing 24.4 FPs per game.

Ty Johnson, NYJ

It was an interesting week for Ty Johnson as he had more carries (6) than he did receptions (0). Johnson, a focal point as a dump-off specialist for the Jets, has had 19 receptions in the last five contests. Unfortunately, he was third on the team in touches, but that can change against the Eagles. Philadelphia allows the third most FPs to running backs catching the ball (80). The Jets could give Zac Wilson ample opportunity to use Johnson in the passing game.

Giovani Bernard, TB

This is a desperation flex play or the exact definition of “what the heck flex.” However, Giovani Bernard has had some quality games this season. Bernard has finished in the top-30 three times, including a top-12 performance. Bernard won’t offer rushing attempts (7 this season), but he does help in the passing game. Also, Bernard has scored a touchdown on three separate occasions. Tampa Bay faces the Atlanta Falcons, and they give up the 26th most FPs to running backs. They are also the 23rd worst in restricting pass-catching backs from bringing in the ball (69 receptions).

Wide Receivers

Odell Beckham Jr, LAR

Matthew Stafford has a cannon of an arm. Also, Stafford has proven the accuracy to get his deep ball receivers involved in the offense. Beckham was heavily involved in the game plan against Green Bay, as he caught five of his ten targets for 81-yards and a touchdown. The Rams have a nice matchup against the Jaguars, who allow the 21st most FPs to wide receivers. Look for more Beckham in the contest.

Kendrick Bourne, NE

More and more managers are becoming aware of Kendrick Bourne as he has a WR2 season. Bourne averages 11.8 FPs per game which is 25th in full-point PPR leagues. Also, he has shown to be very efficient with his opportunities, catching 42 passes on 54 targets (79.2%). Bourne is the WR35 on the week. However, he faces a formidable opponent in the Buffalo Bills, ranks first against FPs allowed to wide receivers. The test will be good for New England, Mac Jones, and Bourne.

Josh Reynolds, DET

Josh Reynolds languished on the Rams roster for the last four seasons before signing with Tennessee Titans in 2021. The Titans released Reynolds on his request in November, and he became a Detroit Lion. Reynolds has a solid chance to be a WR1 on the team in Detroit. Reynolds had his first game against Cleveland, where he was targeted three times. Still, it was his Thursday performance on Thanksgiving against the Bears that he shined. Reynolds caught three of five passes for 70-yards and a touchdown. This week, the Lions face Minnesota, and the Vikings are 31st worst in FPs allowed. Even though Reynolds ranks 52nd, he has a decent chance of jumping into the flex territory with his former teammate and quarterback once again, Jared Goff.
