Are you looking for the perfect flex to put into your lineup? Do not worry, as I have you covered with the top-five flex plays each week. The formula is simple. I look at running backs and wide receivers starting with the RB25/WR25 and dig deeper. I use FantasyPros ADP for the rankings and its one-point PPR.
Running Backs
Jamaal Williams (DEN)
Jamaal Williams has increased his rushing attempt total since Week 1. He has gone from 9 carries to 14 and has been a solid producer, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 187-yards on 42 rushes. Williams has also been involved in the passing game and has caught 13 passes for 93 yards. He will face Minnesota, who gives up the 19th most points to running backs (25 ppg). Williams ranks 30th and is currently the RB19.
Samaje Perine (CIN)
Samaje Perine has an excellent opportunity as Joe Mixon may miss Week 5. Mixon has not practiced through Thursday and is dealing with an ankle injury. Also, offensive coordinator Brian Callahan stated that there will be a committee approach with Perine and Chris Evans. The Bengals face the Packers, who are 14th toughest in points allowed to running backs (23 ppg). Perine ranks 38th.
Brandon Bolden (NE)
Now that James White is out for the season with a hip injury, Brandon Bolden will take over his pass-catching role. Bolden won’t carry the rock as much as White but will catch five or more passes. His ceiling is capped, but double-digit points are in reach. Bolden scored 11 last week against the Buccaneers as he caught six passes for 51-yards. New England faces Houston, who give up the 20th most points to running backs (25.6). Bolden ranks 52nd.
Wide Receivers
Corey Davis (NYJ)
Corey Davis has been solid on a bad Jets offense. New York has mustered only 47-points, and 18 of those have gone to Davis with his three touchdowns. In Week 4 against the Titans, he caught four passes for 111-yards and a touchdown on seven targets. The good news is that Zach Wilson has started to look more comfortable, boosting Davis’ value. New York faces the Falcons. They allow the 24th most points to receivers (41.5 ppg). Davis ranks 26th and is currently the WR21.
Jakobi Meyers (NE)
Jakobi Meyers will make this list almost every week. Meyers continues to show why he is the safest floor play in flex lineups. Also contributing by catching eight balls for 70-yards on 12 targets and completing both passes for 45-yards. He led the team in receptions and targets for the second straight week. New England faces the Texans, who are the 11th toughest against wide receivers (32.4 ppg). However, that is primarily due to teams running out the clock. Meyers ranks 30th and is currently the WR32.
Hunter Renfrow (LV)
Hunter Renfrow has been not only a safe floor but is exceeding expectations by scoring touchdowns. Renfrow has caught back-to-back touchdowns against the Dolphins and Chargers. He also doesn’t have less than five receptions and has scored double-digit points every week this season. The Raiders face the Bears, who allow the 27th most points to wide receivers (44.1 ppg). Renfrow ranks 43rd and is currently the WR22.
Sammy Watkins (BAL)
Sammy Watkins numbers have not changed since Week 2. He has received exactly seven targets and caught four passes. The yards have been a variety and have ranged from 49 to 96 yards. However, he has been a double-digit performer in two of four weeks. The Ravens face the Colts on Monday Night Football and give up the big-play to wide receivers. Watkins could take advantage. Indianapolis allows the 21st most point to wide receivers (39.7 ppg). Watkins ranks 52nd and is currently the WR49.
