Flexing (Fantasy Football 2021 – Week 9)

Are you looking for the perfect flex to put into your lineup? Do not worry, as I have you covered with the top flexing plays each week. The formula is simple. I look at running backs and wide receivers starting with the RB25/WR25 and dig deeper. I use FantasyPros ADP for the rankings and its one-point PPR.

Running Backs

Javonte Williams (DEN)

Javonte Williams has been a mainstay in the Broncos offense. However, Williams has been up and down in double-digit scoring points, blending his rushing and receiving. Nearly half of his games have been ten or more points. It will be tough for Williams to find room against the Cowboys tied for eighth in the fewest points allowed to running backs. Williams ranks 25th this week.

Devin Singletary (BUF)

Devin Singletary is a prototypical boom or bust running back. Unfortunately, Singletary has been in the bust column for the last four weeks. He is not getting more than seven carries. The excellent news for Singletary is Zack Moss isn’t getting them either. Singletary ranks 29th, and the Bills play the Jaguars, who are middle of the league in stopping the run.

Kenneth Gainwell (PHI)

The Eagles went with both Boston Scott and Jordan Howard for most of last week, and they paid off. However, Gainwell has been the guy backing up Miles Sanders the entire season. It would not be surprising to see Gainwell become what Scott was in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are 28th against the run, so Gainwell should find openings as the 34th ranked running back this week.

Salvon Ahmed (MIA)

My surprise pick of the week is Salvon Ahmed. Ahmed has seen three straight weeks of seven carries and is involved in the passing game. However, he has never reached double-digits; this can change against a horrible Houston Texans defense (23rd in fantasy points allowed). Ahmed ranks 45th, but with Malcolm Brown not playing, he may leap into flex territory.

Wide Receivers

Jaylen Waddle (MIA)

Jaylen Waddle has scored double-digit points in five contests and is the WR26 on the season. Waddle hasn’t been a consistent touchdown maker as his three touchdowns have come in three games. However, Tua Tagovailoa continues to pepper him with targets. Miami has the Texans this week, and their defense is tied for 17th in fantasy points allowed. Waddle ranks 26th on the week and is in place to score his sixth week of ten or more points.

Hunter Renfrow/Bryan Edwards (LV)

The Las Vegas Raiders had upsetting news with the Henry Ruggs situation. They may lean on Hunter Renfrow to stabilize the offense. Renfrow has six weeks of double-digit points and has scored two touchdowns. However, it’s been since Week 5 since his last score. Renfrow ranks 35th and takes on the Giants, who allow the 22nd most fantasy points to wide receivers. Bryan Edwards has been a starter; in fact, he leads the team in snap percentage. However, he just hasn’t gotten the targets. The targets may start going toward him with Ruggs no longer on the Raiders.

Mecole Hardman (KC)

The Chiefs have not played up to their usual high offensive firepower ways. Still, Mecole Hardman has been a consistent receiver for Patrick Mahomes to target. Hardman has five weeks of double-digit points and has just one touchdown. Even though managers want their players to score, for him to hit ten or more points in as many weeks without scoring is impressive. This week, Kansas City faces the Packers, and they are tough against wide receivers (10th in fantasy points allowed). However, Hardman ranks 44th but should find room to put up flex-worthy numbers.

Nico Collins (HOU)

Nico Collins is a rookie, but he has been performing as the second receiver on the team. In the last three weeks, he has had ten receptions for 127-yards. Collins has not hit double-digits this season, but that may change against the Dolphins. Miami is giving up the 31st most fantasy points to wide receivers. Collins ranks 61st, so he is my surprise pick of the week at the receiver position.
