There is a difference between being kind and being nice. I am a kind person, it’s true, and I know it. I approach leadership with kindness. Although I am not necessarily a nice person, some people who read this and follow me online think I am nice but only kind.
What is the difference between being kind and being nice? A kind person does things without the hope of getting any recognition. Nice is the person who needs recognition to feel they did nice things. Niceness can be faked, whereas kindness comes from the goodness of your heart. *(reference: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/difference-kind-nice )
The nice person will check in on you when something terrible happens and want the world to see it; they will put on social media how much they helped you or that you need help. The kind person will check in on you regularly to ensure you are ok and never be prompted by an event. * (reference: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/difference-kind-nice )
Most people will be “nice” so everyone can see how nice they are. Try being kind just because it is the right thing to do. Be kind when no one is looking.
Try more acts of kindness without anyone knowing what you did but yourself, and fewer acts of niceness where you shout out to the world how mean others are or how nice you are. The niceness I often see is disingenuous because you do it to be recognized by others. It’s like you think it didn’t occur unless somebody measured it. When you forget to wear your Fitbit, the steps don’t count even though you took those steps. I hate to tell you they still matter.
Be kind with what appears to be some tough times coming in the world. Be genuinely kind to others.
Be kind and rewind.
Now let’s get to some football.
If you are new here, this column can help you handle some sit/start questions you might have, but its primary purpose is to take you through the main DFS slate weekly with players that will make you money and players that will break your heart.
Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:
💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations
💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations
💰 Money Makers
Quarterbacks
Joe Burrow
The Bengals are playing the Falcons in Week 7. The Falcons give up the 8th most fantasy points to the opposing team’s quarterbacks. Burrow throws the ball an average of 38 times a game. He just had 300 yards and three touchdowns against the Saints last week. This passing offense is finding its stride and facing an easy opponent. But, the volume and production will be there.

Jimmy Garopollo
In the last two games, Jimmy has passed for over 250 yards and two touchdowns in each game. He has scored 18 fantasy points in each of those games. In Week 7, the Niners play the Chiefs. The Chiefs give the opposing team’s quarterbacks the third most fantasy points. Quarterbacks average 286 yards and 2.5 touchdowns passing against them. Jimmy G is good for another 18 to 22 points this week.

Matt Ryan
The Titans have given up over 300 yards and multiple touchdowns in 4 straight games. They have given numerous touchdowns up in every single game this season. The Colts are passing the ball a lot, with 58 pass attempts in Week 6. Matt Ryan threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns in that game. The Titans give up the 5th most points to the opposing team’s quarterbacks. Ryan should hit the average game against the Titans with 304 yards and two touchdowns.

Running Backs
Josh Jacobs
The Texans give up the most fantasy points to running backs. Jacobs, meanwhile, has put together back-to-back outstanding games. With 144 yards and two touchdowns against the Broncos in Week 5 and 154 yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs the following week. The Raiders will run the ball on this Texans’ defense. Jacobs will score lots of fantasy points in Week 7.

Ezekiel Elliott
Running backs have scored touchdowns every single week against the Lions’ defense or lack thereof. So should we just call the Lions defenseless? You can run the ball right up this defense’s gut, which is what Elliott does well. I like him to get yardage and a score in Dak Prescott’s first game back. The Lions are the second friendliest defense to running backs. They will try to hug Zeke for sure. I feel so warm and fuzzy about this one.

Kenneth Walker
This Kenneth Walker kid is pretty good. He had 21 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown in his first start for the Seahawks. He now has touchdowns two weeks in a row. Guess what? He plays against a defense that struggles to stop running backs in Week 7, the Chargers. The Chargers give the fourth most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. So this is nicely set up for Walker to dominate again.

Wide Receivers
Deebo Samuel
I like the Niners’ passing game against the Chiefs. Deebo and Aiyuk should be getting double-digit scoring days against the Chiefs. The Chiefs give opposing teams’ wide receivers the third most fantasy points. Nine wide receivers have scored double-digit fantasy points against the Chiefs this season. Deebo has a 27% target share on the season. He has scored double-digit fantasy points each week this season. Both Deebo and Aiyuk reach double digits in Week 7.

Michael Pittman
The Colts are playing the Titans. The Titans have played five games this season. They gave up seven double-digit fantasy scores to the opponent’s wide receivers in those five games. Wide receivers score the second most fantasy points against the Titans. Pittman is coming off a big receiving game with 13 receptions and 134 yards. To beat the Titans, you pass so that the Colts will pass a lot. Pittman has a 24% target share, 73% catch rate, and 26% of the air yards for the Colts passing game. I like him a lot this week; I also like Alec Pierce too.

Allen Lazard
Do you know which Packers wide receivers have double-digit fantasy scores in four straight games? Why that would be Allen Lazard. He plays 97% of the snaps, so he is always on the field. He leads the team in Target share with 20%. He leads the team in air yards share with 37%. He leads the team in receiving touchdowns with 4. The Packers suck, but Lazard has been so consistent and has a nice matchup against the Commanders or whatever their name is this season. The Commanders give up the fifth most fantasy points to wide receivers. Even Chicago had two wide receivers score double-digit fantasy points against this defense. Play him in DFS and any format.

Tight Ends
Gerald Everett
The Seahawks are the worst team at defending the tight end position. Nothing has changed since last week. They have given up double-digit fantasy scores to 6 tight ends this season. Last week it was Ertz (my top TE play) who had seven receptions for 70 yards. Everett has been part of the Chargers’ passing game this season. With a 15% target share and two touchdowns on the season. The matchup is perfect for him to have a good day.

$6,300 on Fanduel
Hayden Hurst
Hurst is third in target share on the Bengals with 14%. He has scored two touchdowns. He is playing against a defense that gives up the fourth most points to opposing teams’ tight ends, the Falcons. This is a match-based play with a top-15 tight end against a defense that can’t cover the tight ends.

💔Heart Breakers
Quarterbacks
Zach Wilson
You probably aren’t playing Wilson anyways. You shouldn’t be. Not only has Zach been average at best, but the Jets look good. He is playing against a Broncos defense that has been amazing against the quarterback position this season. Only two quarterbacks have scored double digits against them. No quarterback has scored more than 17 points. They don’t give up passing touchdowns. I am vomiting profusely at the thought of Zach in any lineups this week. You might get negative points; stay away.
Marcus Mariota
The Falcons are playing the Bengals in Week 7. Mariota is a player people are adding because he will run with the football. That is the only way he will get it done this week. The Bengals have not allowed a quarterback to score more than 15 points this season. That was Lamar Jackson. Maybe just maybe, Mariota can make it to 15. I am not hopeful. I need to brush the taste of stomach bile out of my mouth.
Jared Goff
The Cowboys are a good defense in real life and fantasy. They give up the 7th fewest points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. I am playing Goff for season-long myself. He will have volume in his favor. But I would avoid him in DFS. Not a single quarterback has surpassed 16 fantasy points against this defense. Only one QB has thrown for over 300 yards, and only two have thrown for over 200 yards. EEEEEWWWWW, this feels icky.
Running Backs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The combination of the Niners being amazing against the run and CEH being a touchdown-dependent play make him someone I wouldn’t use unless I must cover a bye week. Only Christian McCaffrey has had a stellar day against the Niners’ defense. CEH is no CMC, even though we refer to them in 3 digit acronyms. Unless he scores, he is close to useless.
Tyler Allgeier
The Falcons use multiple players to run the ball; Allgeier is only one of them. The Bengals are the opponent in Week 7. The Bengals give up the 7th fewest points to opposing teams running backs. The Falcons will run with their three-headed monster and probably effectively. But that means 5 points for Allgeier. I would only play him as a bye-week fill-in.
D’Andre Swift
Swift will play this week after healing up over the bye week. He had ankle and shoulder injuries. He comes back to play against a Cowboys defense that gives up the 6th fewest points to opposing team running backs. With Jamaal Williams playing exceptionally well this season, I expect the lions to limit Swift’s touches and ease him back in. I am playing him for a season-long if he is going and I am not in DFS. He has made me feel a little better going through the Heart Breakers; he is almost an antacid.
Wide Receivers
Christian Kirk
The Giants are the best defense against wide receivers this season. Kirk has been good, but I also had him as a heartbreaker last week. He will be targeted and probably get you around the eight fantasy points he scored last week. He has another tough defense next week, and it starts to lighten up. Sit him if you can season-long, and do not play him in DFS. I would look to acquire him after next week, though. After that, the schedule gets very easy for this passing attack.
Elijah Moore
You probably don’t need me to tell you this, especially after reading my thoughts on Zach Wilson. I should have named this all Jets receivers and not just Moore. But Moore has been horrible. It isn’t getting better this week, barring a miracle. The Broncos give up the second least amount of points to wide receivers. So out on the Jets, with the exception being Breece Hall.
Titan Wide Receivers
The Titans’ wide receivers haven’t been great as it is. This week they get the Colts, and Colt’s defense doesn’t let wide receivers do too much. The Colts give up the third-fewest points to wide receivers. I see people saying to add Robert Woods; don’t bother. It’s not worth much right now.
Tight Ends
Zach Ertz
Money Maker last week and a Heart Breaker this week. That is simply how fantasy football works. The Saints defend the middle of the field well. They have not given up a touchdown to an opposing tight end yet this season. I am sticking with Ertz for the season-long as he gets the targets, and with the Marquise Brown injury, maybe they line him up wide more. But in DFS, this is a bad play this week. I am hoping for the best for him as he is a favorite play of mine, typically.
Robert Tonyan
The Commander’s defense doesn’t do many things well, but they defend the tight end position well. Maybe because they let wide receivers do whatever they want. I don’t know. People will be tempted to pivot to Tonyan after his huge volume in Week 6. Don’t do that. The Packers will most likely shift to wide receivers this week.
TJ Hockenson
I’ll start with I would play him for a season-long league. I don’t love the matchup. The Cowboys’ defense is good. Not a single tight end has scored more than 8 points against this defense. Another guy I don’t genuinely hate, but I am not willing to play in DFS.
