Money Makers and Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2020 – Week 11)

Let’s face it, you are reading this because you play fantasy football.  Which in all honesty makes you a nerd. Since we have that clearly identified, you sir or ma’am are officially a nerd. I will ask you a question only nerds know the answer to; do you remember comic book crossovers? Or you might remember some super hero team-ups.

These were when DC and Marvel would cross over to have a series with super heroes from different companies. The team-ups would be when two super heroes get together and team up, I know it’s pretty obvious isn’t it.  Well, this week one of my buddies and I were bouncing stuff off of one another and well Chris Robin thought it would be a good idea for he and I do to a crossover/team-up. I know neither of us are super heroes, hell, we aren’t even big names in the industry (yet). But here we are providing some information and entertainment for you.

Since his last name is Robin I am assuming that means I can be Batman. I mean, I like Batman; he has one of the best alter egos, billionaire playboy. Chris, will you be my Robin? Anyways, you can expect both Chris and I to look to do more teams ups and cross-overs. Which will help us get better information for all of you.

You can find Chris over at DFS Cheat Sheet. I will have direct links into his “Bottom of the Barrel” article as we go.

If you are new around here this is how it works:

Money Maker – I think this person will perform well this week and be better than projections

Heart Breaker – These players will not meet projections

Quarterbacks

💰 Money Makers

Ben Roethlisberger – $9,000 on Fanduel and $6,700 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – The Steelers play the Jaguars in Week 11.  The Jaguars a the third-worst defense against the pass in the NFL. The Jaguars have given up over 300 yards and/or multiple TDs in all but one game this season. This lines up well with how incredible Big Ben has been playing lately, in Week 9 he lit up the Cowboys for 306 yards and 3 touchdowns and in Week 10 he scorched the Bengals for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Chris Robin So the Jaguars aren’t the best on defense. Hard-hitting analysis I know. While Big Ben leads the league with the shortest average time throwing the ball. Making it next to impossible for JAX to stop him. 280 passing yards and 2 TD on tap in Week 11!

Justin Herbert $8,500 on Fanduel and $6,800 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – In Week 10, Herbert struggled a bit against Miami. Do you know what typically makes a quarterback feel better after an off game? Playing the Jets of course. The Jets give up an average of 287 yards and 2 touchdowns a week to opponents passing game. You can expect Herbert to bounce back like he was on a trampoline.

Chris Robin Rookie dynamo QB vs. arguably the worst team in the league. What else can I say?

Jamies Winston $7,200 on Fanduel and $5,900 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – Drew Brees is injury means that a top 5 fantasy quarterback from last season is stepping in as the Saints QB this week. Winston couldn’t ask for a better team to play against in his first start as a Saint, the Falcons. The Falcons give up 322 yards and 2 touchdowns a week to quarterbacks. They are literally the friendliest defense for the quarterback position in the league.

Chris Robin Unless you’ve been on the moon you now know Drew Brees is injured. Giving Winston ample opportunity to make good on his deal with New Orleans. Personally, I love the idea of Winston in week 11. Moving forward, I firmly believe Jameis has a 250 passing yard and 2 TD type floor week in and week out.

NOTE: With Taysom Hill Starting at quarterback for the Saints you can pass on Winston.

Alex Smith – $6,600 on Fanduel and $5,300 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – Alex Smith looks pretty good so far this season. He has played two games and has thrown for over 300 yards in each game. In Week 11, Smith gets to continue this trend against the Cincinnati Bengals bottom of the barrel defense.

Chris Robin Clearly, our 2020 Comeback Player of the Year award winner, Smith at home vs. CIN is quite juicy! Smith has thrown for almost 600 total yards in two weeks. Let the gun show commence in Week 11!

NOTE: For more on Winston and Smith check out Kyle Larson’s The Stream Option and Bottom of the Barrel by Chris Robin. Both guys are pretty much consensus plays in Week 11 from the three of us.

Other quarterbacks I like in week 5:

There is the obvious: Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers

The not so obvious: Joe Flacco and Carson Wentz

💔 Heart Breakers

Tom Brady

Mike Reedy Brady has been up and down this season, like REALLY up. This week he will most likely be down. In Week 11, the Buccaneers play the Rams. The Rams defense is for real, in Week 10 they held Russell Wilson to 250 yards and 0 touchdowns. Expect to see Ronald Jones continue more of his tear running the ball this week.

Chris Robin TB12 has been Mr. Reliable so far in 2020. Aside from a dud vs. New Orleans in week 9. The Rams have been called many things. My favorite is the worst best team in the league so far. I’m thinking the Rams take a page from the Saints and pressure the heck out of Brady in this one. Tom will break your heart on Sunday.

Philip Rivers

Mike Reedy – The fourth best defense against the pass is the Packers. The Colts play the Packers in Week 11. Rivers is currently the QB25 on the season, he hasn’t been very good. If you were thinking of playing him because he threw for over 300 yards in Week 10, please don’t. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Chris Robin If you think starting Philip Rivers is a good move in week 11 ring your call button and Tommy will come around and hit you over the head with a tact hammer cause you’re a moron. (taken from David Spade in Tommy Boy)

Jared Goff

Mike Reedy Week 10 was supposed to be the week for Goff and the Rams passing game. They played a defense that has let everyone throw like crazy against it. But Goff had 0 touchdowns. This week Goff plays the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers have only given up one 300 yard game on the season.

Chris Robin Goff has really taken me on the rollercoaster of emotions this season. Not to mention the bevy of RB’s coach McVay uses each week. The TB secondary is opportunistic and they have a legit pass rush. Goff will break your heart Sunday.

Other quarterbacks to avoid: Deshaun Watson and Ryan Tannehill

Running Backs

💰 Money Makers

Mike Davis – $7,400 on Fanduel and $6,800 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – Davis has been pretty meh the past few starts. The only thing that could possibly cure this is playing against the worst defense against the run, the Detroit Lions. Lucky for Mike Davis the Lions show up in Week 11 and are like a much-awaited vaccine for all that ails him. The Lions give up 126 yards and a touchdown rushing and another 54 yards and a touchdowns to the running back position. If Davis doesn’t do it here he isn’t doing it anywhere anymore.

Chris Robin In keeping with the honesty thing, I was wrong about Davis in week 10. Which is fine it happens. However, at home vs. the lowly Detroit DST, Mike should have a field day. Did you see what JD Mckissic did in week 10? Still no CMC meaning Davis will have the field to himself!

Damien Harris – $5,800 on Fanduel and $5,700 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – In Week 10 against the Ravens stout run defense Harris had 22 carries for 121 yards. In Week 11, Harris gets to run against the second-worst run defense in the NFL, the Houston Texans. You can look to Harris and Rex Burkhead to produce this week.

Chris Robin – These two couldn’t be any more clear. I see what Michael is doing here and I like it! In all fairness, I’ve been picking on the Texans all season too. They are 31st against opposing RB’s. What if I told you I’m expecting around 145ish total yards from both backs? Would you take that bet?

NOTE: You can also look to play Sexy Rexy Burkhead in DFS ($5,900 on Fanduel and $4,600 on DraftKings). Both Patriots running backs are written up in Bottom of the Barrel as well.

D’Andre Swift – $6,900 on Fanduel and $6,400 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – Oh yeah, you gotta get shwifty in here, You gotta get shwifty in here, It’s time to get shwifty…..The Lions play against the Panthers this week. Yes, those Panthers, the ones that give up 108 yards and a touchdown rushing each and every week.

NOTE: D’Andre Swift has been ruled out. Pivot to Kerryon Johnson or Adrian Peterson as both can be considered in the RB3/4 range.

Get Swifty (Get Schwifty in here) - Lyrics and Music by Rick and Morty Morty arranged by Envy_WCE

Chris Robin – Swifty has arrived! Feels good to say that but the Detroit Lions have done this to me before. At this point, I’m thinking you know all about the Lions too. Would that be a fair assumption? I wouldn’t get your hopes up yet. That may be foolish but it’s been a long tumultuous road for me and my Detroit Lions. Week 11 is the week we fall head over heels in love with Swift!

Other running backs to play:

The obvious: Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt

The not so obvious: Jonathan Taylor, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and J.D. McKissic

💔 Heart Breakers

Todd Gurley

Mike Reedy – The Falcons play the Saints in Week 11. The Saints have only given up 3 touchdowns to running backs on the season. It’s like you can feel the touchdown regression coming for Gurley this week. He has been so consistent, but he also hasn’t played the best defense against the run yet, he does this week.

Chris Robin – I’ve always been a Gurley fan. He’s always had a safe floor due to his TD scoring rate. This week though? ATL is walking into a buzz saw. The Saints have been playing out of their minds on defense. I’m willing to bet 60 total yards or less for Todd in week 11. Don’t get your heartbroken!

James Robinson

Mike Reedy – Robinson has been even more consistent than Gurley. But this week he is playing against the second best defense against the run, the Steelers. Only one running back has over 100 yards against this defense on the season and only one running back has 2 touchdowns against the Steelers. It doesn’t look exceptionally good for Robinson in Week 11.

Chris Robin – I went back and forth on this one. Do I agree with Michael or do I call him a fool and tell him to screw off? After a few moments of thinking about it I came to a conclusion. J-Rob is going to break our hearts this weekend. His selling point so far in 2020 has been his workload and volume. The Steelers are currently the best defense in the league. I just don’t see a way for James to get much done. It pains me to say this but he’s going to break your heart this week.

Aaron Jones

Mike Reedy – Since coming back from his injury Jones has been used in both the running game and the passing game. But in those two weeks he has been splitting time with Jamal Williams and Jones has not topped 100 yards in either game, he also has not scored. This week Jones is up against the Colts defense which is top three against the run. If you have him on your team you are playing him but avoid in DFS.

Other running backs that will cost you in Week 8: Ronald Jones, Darrell Henderson, and Miles Sanders.

Wide Receivers

💰 Money Makers

Justin Jefferson – $6,700 on Fanduel and $6,000 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy– In Week 10 Jefferson had 28% target share in the Vikings passing game. He turned that into 8 receptions for 135 yards against a very good Bears defense. In Week 11 he gets to play against the Cowboys and their third friendliest defense to wide receivers. They have given up 15 touchdowns to the position. Looks like a nice spot to play Jefferson.

Chris Robin – This match-up is a perfect storm! JJ has been fantastic all season and he’s surging again! Notching his third 100 yard plus game of his career! While the Cowboys continue to be awful on defense. They are actually 5th best in terms of fantasy points given to opposing WR’s! Much like Swift if you’re not in love with JJ yet you will be after week 11!

Willie Snead – $5,200 on Fanduel and $4,500 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – In two of the last three games Snead has had 7 targets. In those games, he has a combined 10 receptions for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Titans are up in Week 11 and they bring with them the 4th kindest defense to wide receivers. I would expect Willie to get those 7 targets again and turn them into something useful in Week 11.

Chris Robin – After all the complaining in Baltimore Hollywood Brown has done nothing! While Willie has stepped up to a certain extent. Truth be told, Snead does this from time to time. Moving forward I’m expecting Willie to see 6-7 high upside targets Sunday.

Curtis Samuel – $5,600 on Fanduel and $4,700 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – I like Samuels, I like how the panthers utilize him. I like that the Panthers are playing against the Detroit Lions in Week 11. Samuel will most likely do damage via the air and on the ground.

Chris Robin – I love the idea of Samuel in week 11 at home against this Lions DST. The way Carolina uses him just excites me in this match-up. Plenty of targets and touches coming his way Sunday. He will be locked and loaded in all my lines!

NOTE: Both Samuel and Snead are guys you will find over in Bottom of the Barrel and the price is right in DFS for both players.

Other wide receivers to play:

The obvious: Davante Adams, Julio Jones, DK Metcalf, DeAndre Hopkins and Michael Thomas.

The not so obvious:  Michael Pittman, Emmanuel Sanders, and Cowboys wide receivers

💔 Heart Breakers

Tyler Boyd

Mike Reedy – To beat the Washington Football Team’s second-best defense against wide receivers, you do it on the outside. Which means this is a Tee Higgins game and not a Tyler Boyd game. Washington only gives up an average of 11 receptions and 137 yards to the position weekly.

Chris Robin – Boyd has been great all season. His floor has been nice! Playing in the slot has been Boyd’s sweet spot but that’s a place I’m not excited to play him vs. this stout WSH DST.

AJ Brown

Mike Reedy – Titans wide receivers might be a better thing to call this instead of just Brown. The Ravens are up in Week 11. The Ravens are a top 4 defense against wide receivers. The Ravens have only given up 4 touchdowns and one 100 yard game to wide receivers on the season. I prefer Jonnu Smith is the passing game Week 11.

Chris Robin – Oh, boy. (I’ll take that as Chris doesn’t agree with me)

Mike Evans

Mike Reedy – The Rams defense is for real, Jalen Ramsey is for real. The Buccaneers play the Ram and Ramsey will most likely cover Evans. Ramsey is currently the most confident and best corner in the league. In Week 10 DK Metcalf had 2 catches for 28 yards, maybe Evans will do that well.

Chris Robin – It’s going to be tough sledding for Evans and the other RB offensive skill positions on Monday Night Football. Evans has hurt us and made us cry in the past so not much to see here.

Other wide receivers will cost you: Nelson Agholor and Robert Woods

Tight Ends Week 5

💰 Money Makers

Jared Cook / Taysom Hill – Cook $5,800 on Fanduel and $4,600 on DraftKings / Hill $4,500 on Fanduel

Mike Reedy – Do you know who is really bad against tight ends? The Falcons. They are the number 1 defense for tight ends to play against. Tight ends are writing jokes about how easy it is to play against the Falcons. In 9 weeks of play the Falcons have given up 8 touchdowns to tight ends. This bodes well for both Cook and Hill.

Chris Robin – The general consensus around town with the Saints this weekend is described as a “field day”. Everybody scores. Everybody gets 100 yards. Everybody has a career game with Winston at QB. Who am I shoot them down?

NOTE: Taysom Hill is TE eligible in ESPN and Fanduel. NICE! As Chris said in Bottom of the Barrel “If you are reading this then you know why Taysom Hill is a good play this week”

Logan Thomas – $5,200 on Fanduel and $3,300 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – The Bengals are the second friendliest defense to tight ends in the league. In Week 10 Thomas had 6 targets yielding him 4 receptions for 66 yards. The Football Team will be throwing the ball often. Smith likes to check down if his primary targets are not open. You can expect Thomas to be useful as long as Smith is under center.

Chris Robin – Coming off a seasonal best in receptions and yardage I’m intrigued by this contest. A divisional game at home just screams LT TD!

Eric Ebron – $5,300 on Fanduel and $4,000 on DraftKings

Mike Reedy – Ebron saw 6 targets in Week 10 and didn’t do much with them. The good news is in Week 11 he gets another shot at a bottom 5 defense against tight ends, the Jaguars. You can look for the targets to continue as the Steelers will be passing. The Jaguars have given up touchdowns to tight ends in 6 games this season, Sunday will probably be the 7th week.

Chris Robin – Personal issues aside, Ebron has a knack for moving the chains. In turn Big Ben trusts him. Week 11 sets up Ebron for let’s say a 3 receptions, 40 yards and a TD type game.

Other tight ends to play:

The obvious Travis Kelce, Darren Waller and TJ Hockenson

The not so obvious: Hayden Hurst and Austin Hooper

💔 Heart Breakers

Trey Burton

Mike Reedy – The Packers have given up one game of more than 65 yards and only one touchdown to tight ends this season. That was the one game they played Rob Gronkowski. Burton is not Gronkowski. You can expect the Packers to continue rolling against tight ends this week.

Chris Robin – Burton was a nice sneaky trendy play for a few weeks. That time is over. If you’re cool with your tight-end catching two passes for fifteen yards then Burton is your guy!

Noah Fant

Mike Reedy – Fant has been seeing targets and not doing much with them. That will continue this week against the Dolphins. You can expect another 3 catch game. WOOF!.

Chris Robin – I’m not 100% sure Fant’s ankle injury is fully healed. In any case, the QB position for Denver right now is in flux leaving Fant high and dry. Hard pass!

Other tight ends that will cost you: Mercedes Lewis and Tyler Eifert

A Special thank you to Chris Robin! You can find Chris over at DFS Cheat Sheet.
