Money Makers and Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2020 – Week 4)

Well, well, well back again, huh?  It’s great to have you back here. Three weeks into the season and we finally got to see the potential of Covid-19 delaying a game (Steelers vs Titans).  We have also got to see some amazing football being played by guys like Alvin Kamara, Deandre Hopkins, and Josh Allen.  It has certainly been exciting.

Money Maker – I think this person will perform well this week and be better than projections

Heart Breaker – These players will not live up to projections

Quarterbacks

💰 Money Makers

Ryan Fitzpatrick – In Week 2, Fitzmagic threw for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Week 3 saw Fitzmagic throw for 2 more touchdowns and run for a third.  In Week 4, he gets the Seattle Seahawks, who have been the second friendliest defense for quarterbacks in fantasy this season.  Are you following me?  Are you picking up what I am putting down?   I wrote Fitzpatrick up last week as a Money Maker, and I also had him as the top add at QB in Untangling the Wire.  So YES, I am saying play him Week 4. ($7,100 on FanDuel and $5,400 on DraftKings) Pure Money!

Joe Burrow – Burrow is averaging 47 passes a game over the first 3 games.  The Bengals are playing the Jaguars this week, who happen to be the sixth friendliest defense to quarterbacks in fantasy.  The Jaguars have given up 300 yards or 3 or more touchdowns in every game this season.  Joe Burrow is set up for a VERY nice week fantasy wise in Week 4.  ($7,400 on FanDuel and $6,300 on DraftKings)

Matthew Stafford – Kenny Golladay is playing again.  Stafford has two passing touchdowns in each of the past two games and is playing against a Saints defense that has allowed at least two passing scores in every game to date.  The stars are finally aligning for Stafford to have a big day. ( $7,200 on FanDuel ad $5,900 on DraftKings)

Other quarterbacks I like in Week 4:

There is the obvious: Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers, and Lamar Jackson

The not so obvious: Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, Derek Carr, and Carson Wentz

💔 Heart Breakers

Tom Brady – Brady will be without Chris Godwin.  It’s much easier to run on the Chargers defense.  This looks like a let down week for Brady.  The Chargers have been giving up 6.6 yards per pass attempt, which is 6th in the NFL.  I don’t like Brady as more than a QB2 in Week 4.  If you have better options, play them.

Nick Foles – Foles took over in Week 3 as the Bears starting quarterback and threw three touchdowns. In Week 4, he gets to go up against a Colts defense that is the toughest on quarterbacks in the NFL. The Colts have had 6 interceptions this season and have not allowed more than 173 yards passing.  Ouch!

Others quarterbacks who will make you pay in Week 4: Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, Philip Rivers, and Dwayne Haskins

Running Backs

💰 Money Makers

Kenyan Drake –  Drake hasn’t faired so well to start the season, having only between 65 and 95 total yards per game.  Well in Week 4, Drake gets to face the Carolina Panthers defense.  This defense has given up 7 touchdowns and 565 total yards to the running back position this season.  It has been a revolving door defense for running backs in 2020, and now Drake gets his turn.  ($7,000 on FanDuel and $6,000 on DraftKings)

Todd Gurley – The Packers are the third worst defense against running backs this season.  The Packers give up the fourth most yards per carry to running backs and the third most receptions.  Gurley finds himself in a nice spot to capitalize in Week 4.

Darrell Henderson – Who has a 120 total yards in each of the last two games?  Who has a touchdown in each of the last two games?  Henderson does, that’s who. In Week 4 Henderson gets to play a Giants defense that has given up at least 100 yards or a touchdown to every team’s backfield this season.    ($6,400 on FanDuel and 5,800 on DraftKings)

Other running backs to play:

The obvious: Alvin Kamara, Ezekiel Elliott, and Miles Sanders

The not so obvious: James Robinson, Melvin Gordon, Mike Davis, and Devin Singletary

💔 Heart Breakers

Antonio Gibson – Gibson has a touchdown in each of the past two games. The Ravens defense has only given up 1 touchdown to the running back position on the season.  If you have your hopes in Gibson, I am so, so sorry.  I don’t know why you did that.

Nick Chubb – The Cowboys defense gives up yards but not touchdowns to the running back position. A negative game script where the Browns are most likely throwing the ball a lot does not play into Chubb’s role as well.  This is a week I wouldn’t be playing him in DFS.  In redraft, if you have him you are playing him, but manage your expectations.

Other running backs that will cost you in week 4: Joe Mixon, Adrian Peterson, and Carlos Hyde.

Wide Receivers

💰 Money Makers

Robert Woods – Woods has had either over 100 yards or a touchdown in each of the first 3 games of the season. The Giants have given up 5 touchdowns to the wide receiver position this season.  Overall, the Giants give up the 11th most points to wide receivers.  Play Woods.   ($6,700 on FanDuel and $6,300 on DraftKings)

DeVante Parker – The favorite target in that passing attack is DeVante Parker. The Seahawks are up in Week 4 for the Dolphins passing attack.  The Seahawks have given up 5 touchdowns and 1,120 yards to wide receivers in the first three weeks.  Parker is practically a MUST play.   ($6,500 on FanDuel and $5,700 on DraftKings)

Odell Beckham Jr. – “Meh” is the best way to describe how well Beckham has produced this season.  Week 4 brings the Cowboys defense.  The Cowboys have allowed 7 touchdowns to wide receivers in first three weeks of this season.  Beckham will score.  ($6,600 on FanDuel and $5,800 on DraftKings)

Other wide receivers to play:

The obvious: DeAndre Hopkins, Tyler Lockett, Devante Adams, and Calvin Ridley.

The not so obvious:  Jarvis Landry, Cole Beasley, Golden Tate, and Preston Williams

💔 Heart Breakers

Kenny Golladay – The Saints have been very good this season against other teams top wide receivers with Marshawn Lattimore shadowing.  Week 4 brings Kenny G into that area.  Expect some catches and about 70 yards, but Golladay will have problems finding the end zone if Lattimore is on him.

D.J. Moore  – The Cardinals defense does a magnificent job of shutting down the wide receiver position so far this season.  Only Terry McLaurin has exceeded 100 yards against them.  You can expect D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson to have some struggles in Week 4.

Other wide receivers will cost you: Julian Edelman, D.J. Chark, Stefon Diggs, and Allen Robinson

Tight Ends

💰 Money Makers

T.J. Hockenson – The Saints are tough against the wide receiver, but they are so friendly to tight ends.  Four tight ends have got touchdowns against the Saints, including Darren Waller and luminaries such as O.J. Howard, Robert Tonyan and Mercedes Lewis.  Hockenson should have a very happy day in Week 4. ($5,400 on FanDuel and $4,800 on DraftKings)

Mark Andrews – After the last two weeks, everyone with Andrews rostered will feel good again.  Week 4 brings the Washington Football Team, who happens to gives up the sixth most fantasy points to the TE position.  Don’t be surprised if you see a touchdown from Andrews this week. ($7,400 on FanDuel and $6,000 on DraftKings)

Darren Waller – Everyone made a big deal after Waller destroyed the Saints defense; well, everyone eats against the Saints.  Against the Patriots, Waller found much tougher going.  The good news is the Bills are 31st in the league against tight end, having given up 245 yards in the first three weeks.  Waller gets back on track in Week 4.  ($6,700 on FanDuel and $5,200 on DraftKings.

Other tight ends to play:

The obvious: George Kittle and Zach Ertz.

The not so obvious: Drew Sample and Noah Fant

💔 Heart Breakers

Tyler Higbee – The Giants have been pretty stingy against the tight end position this season. It’s one of those games where Higbee and to some extent Kupp may struggle in the passing game for the Rams.  You might see Higbee end up with only a few targets.

Travis Kelce – If you have him, you are definitely playing him in redraft.  But if you are considering him for DFS, look somewhere else.  The Patriots have been the toughest team against the tight end position this season.  They shut down Mike Gesicki and Darren Waller, so you can look for them to try and take away Kelce as a weapon for the Chiefs in Week 4.

Other tight ends that will cost you: Mike Gesicki, Hayden Hurst, and Jared Cook.
