Money Makers & Heart Breakers (Fantasy Football 2021 – Week 17)

Happy New Year!

Lets start the New Year off right. Have a great drink, kiss someone you love, and reflect on the past year. Most of you may make resolutions, I never do it. I never make a new year resolution. And I am not doing it this year as well, but I will continue to try and be a better person.

Let’s just all try to be better people, work every day to improve upon who were the day before. Being a good person doesn’t mean being wishy washy and trying to make everyone happy. It means try to do the right thing. Do right by others and for yourself.

Special Notice

If you have an inkling to keep playing fantasy into the playoffs I will be working with my favorite charity, Ride Hard Breathe Easy, on the NFL Playoff challenge again this year. It is a $20 entrance fee, and half the money will go to Ride Hard Breathe Easy to help support their mission: “End the stigma and suffering for lung cancer patients and caregivers, in memory of Kathleen Matthews.”

Please consider playing in this tournament and helping the good cause. You can reach out to me to get started.

Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:

💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations

💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations

💰 Money Makers

Quarterbacks

Jalen Hurts

Hurts gets to play against the Washington Football Team. The same WFT that he played in week 15. In the week 15 game he lit this team up for 296 yards passing and a touchdown and he also ran for 38 yards and 2 touchdowns. Quarterbacks average the most fantasy points against the WFT, averaging 280 yards and 2 touchdowns passing and another 25 yards rushing against this team. Jalen lays the hurt down in week 17.

$7,900 on Fanduel

Josh Allen

The Falcons give up the second most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Allen is the top quarterback in fantasy right now. He has been on a tear the last 3 weeks scoring three touchdowns in each game and throwing for over 300 yards and two of those games. He has also rushed for 197 yards during this 3 game stretch. The Falcons such and Allen going to explode yet again. You will be stacking Bills to stack some bills this week in DFS

$8,000 on DraftKings
$8,800 on Fanduel

Matthew Stafford

In Week 17 Joe Burrow just threw for 525 yards and four touchdowns against the Ravens. In week 17 Stafford gets to play this Ravens team. The Ravens have given up multiple touchdowns in 4 straight weeks. Stafford had only 1 touchdown against the Viking last week but I expect that to change as he has multiple touchdowns in 4 of the last 5 games. The Rams will give it to the Ravens via the air.

Running Backs

Ronald Jones

The Buccaneers are playing the Jets in week 17. The Jets are literally the worst team at defending running backs for fantasy purposes. The give up double digit fantasy days like people breath air. It just happens. Ronald Jones is essentially a must play in week 17. RoJo getting you money in DFS and championships this week.

$6,300 on DraftKings
$7,000 on Fanduel

Elijah Mitchell

Eli may not play this week, but I am talking about him anyways. The Niners are playing the Texans in week 17. The Texans give up a lot of points to running backs in fantasy. The Texans have been destroyed the past 3 weeks. Mitchell is active and Mitchell is the guy when active for the Niners, the Niners love to run the ball. The Texans don’t defend the run well. Sometimes this is just too easy to do.

$6,000 on DraftKings
$7,800 on Fanduel

Javonte Williams

Javonte has scored in double digits four out of the last 5 games. He has scored a touchdown in in 4 out of the last 5 games. He is playing against the Chargers who he had 111 total yards and a touchdown in week 12. I expect much of the same in week 17. Javonte will love the weather in LA this week and run all over the place.

Wide Receivers

Jaylen Waddle

In his last 3 games played Waddle has double digit targets. Waddle has a 23% target share and a 23% air yards share for the Dolphins. The Dolphins play the Titans in week 17 and the Titans give up the second most fantasy points to wide receivers. There will be some penguin walking happening in an end zone week 17.

$6,700 on DraftKings
$7,000 on Fanduel

Brandin Cooks

Cooks is back from covid in week 17. The Texans play the Niners who are one of the ten most friendly defenses to wide receivers in fantasy. Cooks has a 25% target share and a whopping 38% air yards share in this Texans passing game. I am excited to see Brandin get cooking this week. I can hear people shouting “Let’s go Brandin!” again this week, this is what hey mean right?

$6,000 on DraftKings
$6,500 on Fanduel

Stefon Diggs

The Falcons really suck at defending against wide receivers. They are the third worst team at doing it. Diggs has double digit fantasy scores in 9 out of his last 10 games. This is a spot set up for a little explosion from Diggs and the Bills passing game. I just love stacking bill, usually hundreds, but this week just Bills in general.

Amon-Ra St. Brown

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce

The Bengals are a good team the defends poorly against tight ends. They are bottom 10 at defending the position. Kelce missed last week and was missed by the Chiefs. Looks for Kelce to be back involved and active in week 17. This looks to be the second highest scoring game o the slate with an over under of 49.5. It’s going over. Kelce with double digit targets and a nice day to pay up.

$7,300 on DraftKings
$8,200 on Fanduel

George Kittle

The Texans are also a bottom 10 team at defending against tight ends. Kittle is primary target in the passing game of the Niners. Kittle broke a bunch of hearts last week but will bounce back in week 17. Trey Lance targeted Kittle 10 times in the only game they played together this season. I expect to see that type of volume in week 17. Tasting the Rainbow once again! (I need to go but some skittles now, I haven’t had any in a long time)

$7,100 on DraftKings
$7,300 on Fanduel

Mo Alie-Cox

The Colts will have a back up quarterback starting in week 17. Back ups tend to like to pass to tight ends. The Raiders give up the fourth most fantasy points to tight ends. Alie-Cox is healthy and played 90% of the snaps in Week 17. You will be feeling like Billy Idol up there singing mo, Mo, MO!!

Darren Waller

Rob Gronkowski

💔Heart Breakers

Quarterbacks

Matt Ryan

The Bills are the top rated defense against quarterbacks in fantasy. Matt Ryan has been meh. I don’t really have much to say here other than yuck. Ryan will probably score 15 points but there is a lot more upside to found almost everywhere else. Yuck, yuck to the Falcons passing game this week.

Dak Prescott

I don’t think Dak is the worst play you could have. The Cardinals though are the fourth toughest defense against quarterbacks in fantasy. They have given up multiple touchdowns in 4 straight games. So you have hope, but don’t expect a huge game here. Its going to be average.

Trevor Lawrence

I threw him in here just so I could make fun of him. You aren’t playing Lawrence and you didn’t need me to tell you not to play him. Since the bye week Lawrence has thrown 2 touchdowns, TWO! Good lord 2 touchdowns in the last nine games, HA. This is me endorsing you to play the Patriots defense in DFS this week.

Running Backs

Josh Jacobs

The Colts are tough against the run. Jacobs is great and will probably make double digits but don’t expect more than a average day like 10 points. That is what he has done the past two week. Nothing exciting to see here. Sorry Raiders fans, the good news is I think the Raiders win.

D’Onta Foreman

The Titans are playing the Dolphins this week. The Dolphins give up the 7th fewest fantasy points to running backs. Foreman had only9 carries last week, which was 34% of the running back carries. Not loving the three headed running back by committee.

James Conner

The Cowboys defense is good. Conner is coming back from his heal injury. The combination of going up against a top 5 defense against running backs and his return make him someone I will avoid in DFS. At Conner’s price point you will easily find better plays.

Wide Receivers

Russell Gage

The Falcons passing game is going up against the Bills great defense against the pass. The Bills are literally the toughest defense on wide receivers in the league. Definition: When looking to gage Russell’s performance for week 17, I found it would be troublesome.

Terry McClaurin

The Washington Football Team is playing the Eagles in week 17. The Eagles give up the second fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. In week 15 Terry had 2 receptions for 51 yards against the Eagles. He hasn’t done a hell of a lot since as well. Terry is a scary play in week 17.

Michael Pittman

The Raiders are the third toughest team against opposing teams wide receivers in fantasy. The Colts will be playing god knows who at quarterback. You see the writing on the wall for this one right? I don’t need to spell it out anymore. Pittman will most likely play like sh*t in Week 17.

Tight Ends

James O’Shaughnessy

The Patriots are literally the toughest defense against tight ends in fantasy. Mr. O-Shag-Hennessy is only going to break your heart if you play him this week in fantasy. I means seriously this guys quarterback has thrown 2 touchdowns in the past nine weeks. TWO! Wow, I am laughing as I write this. The Jaguars are so bad that they make bad teams look good.

Jared Cook

The Broncos defense is good. The Broncos give up the fourth fewest fantasy points to tight ends. Cook scored a touchdown against the Broncos in week 12, but he also only had 2 receptions. This is a complete touchdown or bust play you should avoid. Nothing is cooking here.

Mike Gesicki

Remember when Gesicki would have been a Money Maker? It seems like so long ago. The Titans rank fourth against tight ends. That is fourth in defending them. They don’t let tight ends beat them. As much as I like Waddle, I don’t like Gesicki in week 17
