In this weekly DFS article, The Undroppables goes over the top salaried players in both DraftKings and FanDuel to provide his take on who you should play and which players to avoid. Using this article to help construct your rosters, you will better understand who to pay up to win you some money.
Quarterbacks
Paying Up – Jared Goff @ Los Angeles Chargers (Ranked 31st vs. fantasy QBs)
DraftKings – $6,400
FanDuel – $8,000
The Chargers’ defense looked good this past week… but that was against the Jets’ anemic offense. This week, the 31st fantasy defense against QBs faces a much more potent Lions offense, and I expect that offense to continue to put up points.
Avoiding – Trevor Lawrence vs. San Francisco 49ers (Ranked 9th vs. fantasy QBs)
DraftKings – $6,000
FanDuel – $7,100
The 49ers are a team desperate to get things back on track. I expect their defense to come out flying this week, and I am avoiding the Jaguars’ passing game at all costs. Trevor has been good but not great this season, with only one game with over 300 passing yards and two separate games with more than one touchdown.
Running Backs
Paying Up – Joe Mixon vs. Houston Texans (Ranked 24th vs. fantasy RBs)
DraftKings – $6,200
FanDuel – $7,700
The Bengals offense is finally starting to look like we all expected them to. Houston’s run defense enjoys giving up fantasy points to running backs. All this equals a massive game for Mixon. Mixon is also coming off two straight weeks with a touchdown; let’s make it a hat trick!
Avoiding – Alvin Kamara @ Minnesota Vikings (Ranked 7th vs. fantasy RBs)
DraftKings – $8,300
FanDuel – $8,800
The Saints’ offense has been struggling, and Minnesota’s defense is the #7 team against fantasy running backs. This is way too high of a price I’m willing to pay for Kamara. He had his first single-digit game in PPR formats last week against a good Bears’ run defense. He might project a similar outcome.
Wide Receivers
Paying Up – Brandin Cooks vs. New York Giants (Ranked 19th vs. fantasy WRs)
DraftKings – $4,200
FanDuel – $5,300
The Giants are getting worse by the week. We all know CeeDee Lamb will get his share, but Cooks should also feast. He’s a value hard to pass on at such a low price. Cooks have been more involved in the past few weeks after returning from an injury.
Avoiding – Amari Cooper @ Baltimore Ravens (Ranked 2nd vs. fantasy WRs)
DraftKings – $6,300
FanDuel – $7,100
The Ravens’ defense is making opposing offenses look silly right now, and Deshaun Watson continues to look like every other Browns QB in their history. I wouldn’t pay for Cooper with your money.
