In this weekly DFS article, Abe (DFS_Docket) goes over the top salaried players in both DraftKings and Fanduel to provide his take on who you should play and which players to avoid. Using this article to help construct your rosters, you will better understand who to pay up to win you some money!
Quarterbacks
Paying Up – Kirk Cousins vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Draftkings – $6,900
Fanduel – $7,800
Two things are true about this game. 1) Minnesota loves to throw the ball, and 2) the Chargers’ defense can’t stop the pass (ranked 31st against fantasy QB). Add all that together, and it equals a great Kirk Cousins game.
Avoiding – Justin Fields at Kansas City Chiefs
Draftkings – $7,100
Fanduel – $7,700
Man, do the Bears look like they are in shambles, and Justin Fields is a big reason for that. Playcallers are not allowing Fields to run, and he isn’t a quality NFL passer right now. The Chiefs’ defense held a powerful Jacksonville offense to 9 points. It’s going to get ugly quickly in KC this week.
Running Backs
Paying Up – Javonte Williams at Miami Dolphins
Draftkings – $5,500
Fanduel – $6,100
We all know and believe in Williams’s talent, but the return from the ACL injury has worried some. In Week 2, Javante had 14 touches. If he gets those numbers again, and this week vs. a not-as-good defense in Miami, I expect a lovely week. The price tag solidifies playing him.
Avoiding – Jerome Ford vs. Tennessee Titans
Draftkings – $4,800
Fanduel – $5,600
What??? A clear workhorse for his team and at such a low price tag? And you’re saying don’t play him??? Exactly. For 1, there will be a ton of Ford in DFS lineups at this price. And for 2, the Titans run defense is ELITE, and I don’t expect the Cleveland run game to be able to do much.
Wide Receivers
Paying Up – Michael Pittman Jr. at Baltimore Ravens
Draftkings – $6,200
Fanduel – $6,700
Pittman has shown early on that regardless of who the QB is in Indy, he will see a high volume of the target share. Pittman not only sees a lot of targets, but he produces off of them. Baltimore’s defense has struggled against the pass, and Pittman is in line to take full advantage of that.
Avoiding – Chris Olave at Green Bay Packers
Draftkings – $7,000
Fanduel – $7,800
The Saints’ offense needs to look better. Olave has significant play ability and puts up decent numbers, but for the price tag, you need someone who can 3x your salary, and Olave matching up against Jaire Alexander doesn’t give me high hopes.
