In this weekly DFS article, Abe (DFS_Docket) goes over the top salaried players in both DraftKings and Fanduel to provide his take on who you should play and which players to avoid. Using this article to help construct your rosters, you will better understand who to pay up to win you some money!
Quarterbacks
Paying Up – Brock Purdy vs. Arizona Cardinals
Draftkings – $5,900
Fanduel – $7,100
This is all about matchups and value. Arizona has been playing hard, but that’s mostly been on the offense side of the ball. The 49ers will be able to move the ball up and down the field on Sunday, and Purdy will be a big reason why. Arizona is 24th against fantasy QBs for a reason.
Avoiding – Joe Burrow @ Tennessee Titans
Draftkings – $6,500
Fanduel – $7,200
Joe Burrow is hurt. Right now, he is completely immobile and is not making the quality throws we are used to despite the elite offensive weapons he has. Who would have thought that Joe Burrow was the reason for the Bengals’ struggles? While not great against the pass, Tennessee has a strong D-Line that will quickly make Burrow uncomfortable.
Running Backs
Paying Up – Najee Harris @ Houston Texans
Draftkings – $5,500
Fanduel – $6,300
There is a theme this week (and most weeks with DFS): MATCHUP! MATCHUP! MATCHUP! And despite how bad Harris and the Pittsburgh offense have been, there is no matchup like the Houston Texans to fix the running game. Najee is a must-play this week, especially at such a low price point.
Avoiding – Rhamondre Stevenson @ Dallas Cowboys
Draftkings – $6,200
Fanduel – $6,400
There are two big concerns: 1) The Cowboys’ defense (despite what Arizona did in Week 3) is a strong unit, and 2) Stevenson had almost a 50/50 split with Zeke in Week 3. Patriots have historically been a split backfield, and early on in 2023, it seems that’s not changing.
Wide Receivers
Paying Up – Jakobi Meyers @ Los Angeles Chargers
Draftkings – $5,500
Fanduel – $6,900
Week 3 saw Meyers get 12 targets and go seven receptions for 85 yards with those targets against a good Steelers defense. This week, those same targets will be against a porous defense in the Los Angeles Chargers, and I expect some BIG numbers out of Meyers.
Avoiding – Chris Godwin @ New Orleans Saints
Draftkings – $6,400
Fanduel – $6,500
It is crystal clear who Baker’s #1 target is, not Chris Godwin. Godwin has only been seeing about six targets per game and has not produced anything with those targets. Until Baker starts showing he can support more than just one wide-out, stay away from Chris Godwin.
