In this weekly DFS article, The Undroppables goes over the top salaried players in both DraftKings and Fanduel to provide his take on who you should play and which players to avoid. Using this article to help construct your rosters, you will better understand who to pay up to win you some money.
Quarterbacks
Paying Up – Zach Wilson @ Denver Broncos
Draftkings – $4,900
Fanduel – $6,700
This is easily the wildest thought I’ve ever had. Until last week, I wouldn’t put Wilson in a lineup if he was free. But after his performance against the Chiefs, he may have (hopefully) turned the corner. Denvers’ defense has also been absolute garbage this year. Wilson, at this price, is potentially a massive steal.
Avoiding – CJ Stroud @ Atlanta Falcons
Draftkings – $6,000
Fanduel – $7,200
Stroud is the new flavor of the month, so he’s getting priced up. But the Falcons’ pass defense has improved since 2022 and is 6th against fantasy QBs this year. What might seem like a good matchup on paper isn’t anymore.
Running Backs
Paying Up – David Montgomery vs. Carolina Panthers
Draftkings – $6,600
Fanduel – $8,500
Coming off a quad injury, Montgomery surprised everyone by getting the clear #1 RB workload and putting up a monster game. I’m paying up for Monty against a bad Panthers run defense and in a game that should have a positive game script.
Avoiding – Kyren Williams @ Philadelphia Eagles
Draftkings – $6,700
Fanduel – $7,800
Williams has had an excellent past few weeks, taking the RB1 spot in LA by the horns. But I don’t want to go against the #6 defense against fantasy running backs if it is avoidable. Plus, he is not a cheap option anymore like he was to start the season.
Wide Receivers
Paying Up – DJ Chark @ Detroit Lions
Draftkings – $4,000
Fanduel – $5,800
Revenge game narrative!!! Chark faces his old Lions team in a game where Carolina will have to throw a lot. Reports are out there that Carolina is looking for another wideout, and Chark will go out there trying to quiet them down.
Avoiding – Ja’Marr Chase @ Arizona Cardinals
Draftkings – $7,900
Fanduel – $8,700
There is something very wrong with the Bengals’ offense right now. Until it gets fixed, I am staying away from the Bengals. The price tag is way too high to take this sort of risk.
