Let’s get to it!
Flex Plays of the Week
Shallow League Flex Plays (10 or fewer teams)
Jonathan Taylor @ Detroit Lions
The only teams to not find real success on the ground vs the Lions are the Bears & Cardinals. Outside of those two teams, the Lions have given up 2+ scores on the ground in 4/6 games. Taylor has had a slower start to the year, but this week needs to be a smash play with no second thoughts.
Justin Jefferson vs Green Bay Packers
In their first meeting, Jefferson wasn’t even a blip on the radar. Yet entering Week 8, this is a whole new WR with a whole lot of confidence. The Packers will likely continue to focus on stopping Thielen & Cook who have given the Packers problems. I expect that focus will allow Jefferson to have open looks and a big role in this Week 1 rematch.
Standard League Flex Plays (12 teams)
Brandon Aiyuk @ Seattle Seahawks
The injuries continue to pile up for the 49ers with Deebo Samuel and Jeff Wilson being added to the list. With Deebo down and going to play one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL Aiyuk is a smash play in week 8. Add in the fact that Aiyuk is coming off his most successful outing yet and his confidence should only continue to build this week.
Scotty Miller @ New York Giants
If you have Scotty Miller on the roster this will likely be the last week you can play him in 2020. Add in the fact that Godwin will be out due to injury and his opportunity and target share should be intriguing against a poor Giants team during primetime. Additionally, James Bradberry will be in coverage on Evans for the majority of the game so I anticipate Miller will find more open space on the field.
Deeper League Flex Plays (14 or more teams)
Donovan Peoples-Jones vs Las Vegas Raiders
With OBJ out for the rest of the year, DPJ (all the WR initials) should see a significant increase in opportunity. He was able to bring all three of his targets, including a game-winning TD, in Week 7. I like his upside in super deep leagues as opportunity drastically increases.
Darnell Mooney vs New Orleans Saints
I had Mooney as the guy in Week 7 as well and if it weren’t for Foles being extremely inaccurate on 3 big plays, Mooney would have had a MONSTER day. We are riding with him again as both the targets and snap % continue to increase. His breakout game is coming sooner than later.
Boom or Bust Flex Plays
Preston Williams vs Los Angeles Rams
This play is very risky but could reap nice rewards if the connection is there with new starting QB Tua Tagovailoa. They both had great training camps together and I don’t see why this can’t be the opportunity for them both to shine once again. Jalen Ramsey will likely cover Parker a lot in this game so Preston is a solid option for the rookie in his first start. You’ll need a TD but the boom could be great if it hits.
CeeDee Lamb @ Philadelphia Eagles
This is not the section I imagined Lamb showing up in when we first saw the Cowboys in 2020. That said the hits to QBs and OL both in Dallas leads to this designation. I believe the talent on the field and the ability to create space will allow for opportunities. Yet he will likely need to have a TD in order to have a solid outing for you. The Eagles have been in a lot of high scoring matches the past few weeks, leaving an opportunity for TDs in this game.
JaMycal Hasty @ Seattle Seahawks
Hasty has been efficient in the past two weeks with the opportunities he has been given. I think he should see a significant amount of work on the ground. That said, the bust risk comes with the 49ers playing from behind against this elite offense and week pass defense. Hasty likely will lead the groundwork though allowing the opportunity for a huge boom. Temper your expectations.
The Undroppables Survey Says
Best for last, we go back to the Twittersphere asking for your toughest flex questions. Below are some of those questions we received with a panel of 5 members of The Undroppables bringing you our consensus votes for Week 8:
Aiyuk or JuJu
— Annie Ruby 🇺🇦 (@AnnieRuby_) October 30, 2020
The Undroppables Consensus: Aiyuk (5 votes)
Reason: (See reasoning in article above) AIYUK ABOUT TO EAT! –@fantasydukes
The Undroppables Consensus: Crowder, again, if he plays (3 votes)
Reason: Crowder is the only piece on the Jets roster that looks like a quality football player on the field when he is playing. He is 8th in fantasy ppg. Availability has been his only issue, so if he is on the field then he’s in my lineup. –@KayneRob
The Undroppables Consensus: Michael Thomas, if playing. If not, then Corey Davis (3 votes) (Scotty Miller 2 votes)
Reasons: Corey Davis is getting a large target share with a great QB exactly what you want in fantasy. –@BpoFSU
The Undroppables Consensus: Boston Scott (4 votes) (Fournette 1 vote)
Reason: I’m assuming Sanders will sit again. –@PauliesSleepers
The Undroppables Consensus: Perine (4 votes)
Reason: Gore is banged up. I expect Perine to see check down work late in this game. He saw 70% of snaps last week and NYJ wants to see what they have in him. That is enough for me to play him over any Giants WR vs Tampa defense. –@fantasydukes
