The central theme for Week 8 in the NFL was Quarterback injury. We all hope for a speedy recovery for all those injured, especially Kirk Cousins. It’s tough to see him go down with an Achilles injury in midseason, just when the Vikings seemed to be gaining momentum. We will suggest some options to replace him and others for your rosters. Keep coming back to The Undroppables for all your fantasy football advice!
QUARTERBACKS
Sam Howell (Washington Commanders)
Yahoo – 45% Rostered
ESPN – 30% Rostered
Sleeper – 47% Rostered
I already have written about Sam in Week 1 and Week 6 articles; do you think people would have listened by now? Coming off a 397 passing-yard performance that had four passing touchdowns, Sam Howell should be considered now as a weekly starter for your fantasy teams.
Will Levis (Tennessee Titans)
Yahoo – 2% Rostered
ESPN – 1% Rostered
Sleeper – 7% Rostered
Speaking of another four-touchdown performance, Will Levis lit up the world in his rookie debut. With the Titans through their bye week and a chance to get Treylon Burks back to their team, I can see Levis having an excellent finish to the season for most teams. I predicted this in the offseason. Are you following me on my Twitter?
RUNNING BACKS
Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers)
Yahoo – 59% Rostered
ESPN – 43% Rostered
Sleeper – 65% Rostered
Taking over the Panthers backfield, Chuba Hubbard led the team in rushes and snaps again at the position. With Miles Sanders getting fewer and fewer carries, Chuba is starting to become a weekly FLEX option. With a schedule beginning to soften up and they have already had their bye week, Chuba is an excellent addition to your roster for bye week fill-ins.
Devin Singletary (Houston Texans)
Yahoo – 20% Rostered
ESPN – 32% Rostered
Sleeper – 28% Rostered
Not everyone wants to add a running back that is part of an RBBC, but at least you will enjoy the one that is part of the receiving work in the offense. Singletary splits touch evenly with Dameon Pierce, but all the receiving work goes to Devin. This is an important distinction between the two backs since Texans might have to throw more often than not in future matches. Plus, Devin has a clear path to more touches in case there is an injury that happens.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Jayden Reed (Green Bay Packers)
Yahoo – 17% Rostered
ESPN – 17% Rostered
Sleeper – 27% Rostered
With back-to-back weeks for 10+ points in PPR formats, Reed has been relatively good for fantasy football. Christian Watson is still getting a rhythm in the offense; it looks like Reed has still been able to put up points as Watson has come back from injury. I like him as a deep stash with the potential to be an excellent FLEX starter.
Brandin Cooks (Dallas Cowboys)
Yahoo – 41% Rostered
ESPN – 50% Rostered
Sleeper – 54% Rostered
With a coin flip of a chance he is on your waiver wire, it’s starting to get to that point where we consider Brandin Cooks again. He has a touchdown now in back-to-back weeks for the Cowboys, and they have gone through their bye week as well. This is a nice stash for an offense that runs perfectly or sputters out of control.
TIGHT ENDS
Trey McBride (Arizona Cardinals)
Yahoo – 17% Rostered
ESPN – 7% Rostered
Sleeper – 28% Rostered
Zach Ertz goes down, and McBride fills in perfectly. Leading the way with an enormous target share (14 targets) and turning that into ten receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Those are elite numbers at the position, and they are getting back Kyler Murray. Add him now before it’s too late!
Jake Ferguson (Dallas Cowboys)
Yahoo – 57% Rostered
ESPN – 48% Rostered
Sleeper – 56% Rostered
Jake keeps it very simple. Catching all four of his targets for 47 receiving yards and a touchdown, he gives us the expected line for all starting tight ends for fantasy football. Look to add from this offense that can put up big numbers; Ferguson might be on your waivers to add to your bench.
BUZZ CUTS
Miles Sanders (Carolina Panthers)
This one pains me; since I was all-in on him in the offseason, Miles has become cuttable. Chuba taking almost all the carries this week has sealed the deal for me that he might not return to complete form this season.
