The top story heading into Week 4 of the NFL season is the same top story when the NFL schedule was released back in May: Tom Brady revenge game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heading to Foxboro to play the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football. Brady is making his return to the place where he spent the majority of his career, and is playing against the team he previously won 6 Super Bowls with. In March of 2020, Tom Brady moved down to Florida after the Buccaneers were his top choice during free agency. So the NFL wizards worked their magic and scheduled one of the most hyped up primetime games in recent years. And the prime storyline? Tom Brady revenge game.
Here are some songs I think Tom Brady should have on his Spotify playlist that I am imagining he would listen to during his travels and while he is getting ready and watching film or something. Gronkowski and Antonio Brown can also listen too, if they want.
Irreplaceable – Beyonce
We always hear about the relationship between Brady and Belichick’s relationship, and many people attest to their success to each other. The age-old question of “would they be who they are without each other?” This song is on the playlist because Brady is saying I am successful without you; I could have another coach and another team and still have this success, so don’t think that you are irreplaceable and don’t think that my success is completely tied to you, Bill.
Key Lyrics
You must not know ’bout me
I can have another you by tomorrow
So don’t you ever for a second get
To thinking you’re irreplaceable
I Don’t F*** With You – Big Sean
This song feels more right to be in a pump-up playlist that is focused on revenge, so I see this song being used during warm-ups. Big Sean talks about all the new amazing things he has got since moving on from someone, and that’s exactly what Brady has done. Most obvious, a shiny new ring. After leaving Bill, he definitely resonates with the title of this song.
Key Lyrics
I got a new chick that I gotta thank God for
I got a new whip that I gotta thank a lot for
Yeah I got a lot but want a lot more
Yeah we in the building but I’m tryna take it to the top floor
We Are Never Getting Back Together – Taylor Swift
This is one of the more obvious additions to the playlist. Tom Brady valued himself and his skill set and decided to take that elsewhere. There is no love lost between Bill and Belichick, and it is obvious to see that those two are never ever getting back together… even if Bill calls up Tom and says he still loves him.
Key Lyrics
I used to think that we were forever ever, ever
And I used to say, “never say never”
Ah, so he calls me up and he’s like, “I still love you”
And I’m like, I’m just, I mean this is exhausting, you know?
Like we are never getting back together, like, ever
The Boys Are Back In Town – Thin Lizzy
This song is more directed to Brady and Gronk rather than just Brady. This feels like one of the songs Brady would put on those cocky videos he posts on social media. I could easily see him and Gronk listening to this in the hotel or on the way to the stadium and laughing.
Key Lyrics
Guess who just got back today?
Them wild-eyed boys that’d been away
Haven’t changed, had much to say
Gives You Hell – All American Rejects
I know that Tom Brady is hoping that when Beilchick sees him again that it throws his team off their game. That is the premise of this song. That when an ex sees you, that it gives them hell… that their day is ruined. The line where it says “Truth be told I miss you, and truth be told I’m lyin” is also perfect. Tom always talks about his days in New England in a neutral or positive tone. But with the recent updates in the media, it seems he may have been lying.
Key Lyrics
And truth be told, I miss you (I miss you)
And truth be told, I’m lyin’
When you see my face, hope it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way, hope it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell
Cry Me A River – Justin Timberlake
Tom Brady definitely wants Bill Belichick to be crying by the time Sunday comes around. Those two definitely burned their bridges, and as the lyrics suggest, there is a lot left unsaid (or that we as general public did not know was said). The media surrounding Tom Brady’s happiness in Tampa must be messing with Bill’s head.
Key Lyrics
The bridges were burned
Now it’s your turn, to cry
Cry me a river
Cry me a river
F*** You – Cee Lo Green
This one is so obvious. I could see Brady singing this one on the bus to the field. It feels perfect for the way the media has been- where Brady on camera and in print is saying he wishes the best for Bill and for the Patriots, but behind closed doors, I would bet he is not saying the same… especially this weekend.
Key Lyrics
And although there’s pain in my chest
I still wish you the best
With a “Fuck you”
Not Ready To Make Nice – Dixie Chicks
Tom Brady is not using this game to get closure or to make nice, he is using it for revenge. Brady is not going to let off the gas this game, he is not going to back down. The Bucs could be up 50-0 and I still think Brady would be slinging it downfield.
Key Lyrics
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell, and I don’t have time
To go ’round and ’round and ’round
So What – P!nk
This one may be the most accurate of them all. P!nk talks about her life after a breakup where she is now happier, having more fun, and living her best life. This is the same with Tom Brady. Since leaving New England, we have gotten to see more of Brady’s personality and he is very clearly having more fun. He had more fun in his one Super Bowl parade with Tampa than he did in all 6 of his parade’s in New England combined. It is very clear Brady has moved on from Belicheck and is heavily embodying the lyrics of this song.
Key Lyrics
And guess what?
I’m having more fun
And now that we’re done
I’m gonna show you tonight
Sorry Not Sorry – Demi Lovato
This song was my favorite one to add to the playlist. It matches perfectly to the revenge game aesthetic I was looking for here. A song picture perfect for a revenge game, and the lyrics match perfectly, Tom Brady is going out there this weekend looking like the best he has ever been, and he knows that hurts Belichick to see Brady doing so well without him. Tom Brady is definitely not sorry.
Key Lyrics
Now I’m out here looking like revenge
Feelin’ like a ten, the best I ever been
And yeah, I know how bad it must hurt
To see me like this, but it gets worse (wait a minute)
Now you’re out here looking like regret
Ain’t too proud to beg, second chance you’ll never get
And yeah, I know how bad it must hurt to see me like this
These Boots Are Made For Walking – Nancy Sinatra
Tom Brady put his boots on, walked away from New England and is now about to walk all over the Patriots and Bill Belichick.
Key Lyrics
These boots are made for walkin’
And that’s just what they’ll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
Bad Blood – Taylor Swift
This HAS to be the one Tom Brady listens to right before game time. He should just skip the video they are going to do for him and play this song on repeat. There is very clearly bad blood between Brady and Belichick, for this game at the very least. And Tom Brady is going to unleash all of that bad blood on the field on Sunday night.
Key Lyrics
‘Cause baby now we got bad blood
You know it used to be mad love
So take a look at what you’ve done
‘Cause baby now we got bad blood (hey!)
If you would like to get in Tom Brady’s headspace, you can listen to all of the songs on this Spotify playlist.
