The Stream Option (Fantasy Football 2021 – Week 4)

Accountability Check – Week 3 Finishes

Daniel Jones – QB20
Jared Goff – QB30
Maxx Williams – TE25
Dan Arnold – TE28
Arizona – DST1 !!!
Carolina – DST11

Well, mostly bad on the skill positions from my streamers in Week 3.  The Quarterbacks played well, but no touchdowns were the driving force behind low-end finishes.  Dan Arnold would have been good but Tommy Tremble ended up with the 30-yard catch and the rushing TD.  My Defenses were great picks however and I’ll take that.

Going into Week 4, I have done some more research and will continue to refine my process for picking streamers.  Tight Ends will continue to be a wasteland but I think we got some picks this week that will prove to be better.

Quarterbacks

Taylor Heinicke @ Atlanta Falcons

Yahoo Rostership: 6%
Opposition Rank vs QB: 4th

In the two weeks of being a starter, Taylor has finished QB12 and QB9 and has shown to be aggressive. Mike Reedy, at The Undroppables, posted in the recent Untangling the Wire article about picking him up and rightfully so.  I would only argue that he is still a streamer option instead of a weekly starter if Ryan Fitzpatrick is still coming back at some point.

We will be targeting the Atlanta Falcons once again. They still allowed 266 passing yards to Daniel Jones and that was after he lost Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton in the middle of the game to injuries.  I am hoping Arthur Smith can turn around that offense because this team will permanently be in the negative game script until further notice.

Jacoby Brissett vs. Indianapolis Colts

Yahoo Rostership: 2%
Opposition Rank vs QB: 6th

In his first start after Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, Jacoby finished as the QB12 for Week 3 in a shootout with the Las Vegas Raiders.  Sticking with his previous play, the short throws to Mike Gesicki and Jaylon Waddle certainly helped move the ball while running for 37 yards.  With another week as the starter and Will Fuller brushing off the rust, look for another high-volume game for Jacoby.

The Indianapolis Colts will do their best to get this season back on track as they viewed it in the offseason.  They will hopefully establish the run again with Miami having a weaker run defense and force Jacoby to play catchup in the second half.

Tight Ends

Pat Freiermuth @ Green Bay Packers

Yahoo Rostership: 8%
Opposition Rank vs TE: 2nd

We all saw the memes of Ben’s game in Week 3.  We saw Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster go down with an injury. With Diontae still out and Ben’s depth of target is approaching 0, look for Pat Freiermuth to step up. He caught the touchdown against the Bengals and this may be his week to supplant as the TE1 on the Steelers.

Green Bay Packers may not be the worst against defending the tight ends, but they are up there. They have already faced TJ Hockenson and George Kittle and allowed monster games for them (8/66/1 and 7/92/0). In Week 1, they convinced the world that Juwan Johnson was a top Tight End add for the season. Look for them to do the same for Freiermuth.

Cole Kmet vs Detroit Lions

Yahoo Rostership: 34%
Opposition Rank vs TE: 6th

I think all the Chicago Bears will get a free pass for Week 3, but that is another article.  Cole Kmet still played 95% of the snaps and had a 20% target share (only 4 targets but let me paint my picture). He is still young and talented and involved and has passed Jimmy Graham as the top TE in this offense. I believe he will have a top finish against the Lions this week.

The Detroit Lions have faced top Tight End talents in each of the 3 weeks for the 2021 season. Each one of them had high finishes for the week. Roll the dice against the bad defense if you are looking for options at this position.

Defense/Special Teams

Tennessee Titans @ New York Jets

Yahoo Rostership: 16%
Opposition Rank vs D/ST: 1st

I think we can safely admit that a streaming option each week will be to target the New York Jets.  Don’t overthink this one, I will be supplying a third D/ST this week to balance out the obvious.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Yahoo Rostership: 4%
Opposition Rank vs D/ST: 2nd

This could be the same as the aforementioned New York Jets, but the Bengals are different. I think the Cincinnati Bengals are approaching a weekly starter for a D/ST, pending their matchups.  They have 3+ sacks each week with 1+ turnover in those games and have only allowed less than 24 points in each game.  They made Dalvin Cook and David Montgomery run inefficiently and I don’t think it’s a fluke.  This is a defense to watch on Thursday night in primetime to see if this is real or not.

Green Bay Packers vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Yahoo Rostership: 15%
Opposition Rank vs D/ST: 10th

The Green Bay Packers were able to find some pass rush in Week 3 with 4 sacks and were able to add an interception and fumble recovery as well. The Steelers have recently shown their porous offensive line (ranked dead last with our Offensive Line Rankings by Brad Wire) and Ben has shown to be turnover prone lately when forced into a negative game script. I think Aaron Rodgers and crew can force them as they visit Lambeau Field.

I love the competitive nature, the communities it builds, and the thinking and content that can be created. I am hoping to connect to larger audiences in helping them grow into becoming knowledgable managers and I am open to discussions.
