The Stream Option (Fantasy Football 2021 – Week 9)

Reflection Section – Week 8 Finishes

Teddy Bridgewater – QB22
Trevor Lawrence – QB20
Evan Engram – TE9
Tyler Conklin – TE8
Washington Football Team – DST14
Detroit Lions – DST32 LOL

I struck gold with both my tight-end picks, with Conklin having some nice yardage and receptions and Engram saving his week with a touchdown. The quarterbacks didn’t play all too well, even against soft defenses. I have yet to pick a good week to stream the rookie QBs as well. The defenses were ok, but my bold predictions of the Lions winning absolutely blew up in my face. First game all year they were not competitive, I guess you can say I jinxed them.

Major players on byes this week, I’ll list some options to help you get some more wins for your fantasy teams.

Notable Bye Week Teams

Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Football Team

Quarterbacks

Tua Tagovailoa vs Houston Texans

Yahoo Rostership: 38%
Opposition Rank vs QB: 4th

Despite not winning a game since his return from injury, Tua has been great for fantasy football.  With weekly finishes of 10, 1, and 14 he has been a viable starting QB for your fantasy football team. With the return of some key weapons and the negative game script the team has been in, look for Tua to attack the porous secondary of the Houston Texans once again.

Mike White @ Indianapolis Colts

Yahoo Rostership: 5%
Opposition Rank vs QB: 12th

What a welcome surprise in Week 8! Mike White defeated the Cincinnati Bengals and finished as the QB2 on the week.  With a short week and an easier opponent for passing in the Colts, Look for Mike White to be a great fill-in for people that have Tom Brady this week.  Tough to see him as a true rostered QB, with Zach Wilson coming back soon and the coaching staff not deciding on what to do.

Tight Ends

Marcedes Lewis @ Kansas City Chiefs

Yahoo Rostership: 0%
Opposition Rank vs TE: 1st

Going after the Chiefs again with this pick, and the injury to Robert Tonyan opens up a nice opportunity for Marcedes Lewis. The receiving corp is still under COVID protocols and this will most likely be a higher scoring game. Don’t be surprised if he sneaks in a touchdown with 4 catches and 25 yards. Not a game-breaking week, but with TJ Hockenson, Gronk, and Ricky Seals-Jones out this week, we are limited in what we have.

Tyler Kroft @ Indianapolis Colts

Yahoo Rostership: 0%
Opposition Rank vs TE: 7th

Going to pair up a streaming tight end option with one of the quarterbacks I picked. Tyler Kroft scored one of the touchdowns in Week 8 for Mike White and the Colts have been poor at defending the position. Mike White is veteran enough to rely on his running backs and tight ends in the receiving game and red zone. Similar situation here for me, expect a sneaky touchdown again with 2-3 receptions for 20 yards.

Defense/Special Teams

Carolina Panthers vs New England Patriots

Yahoo Rostership: 42%
Opposition Rank vs D/ST: 7th

A top DS/T in fantasy, finishing top 10 in 3 out of the last 4 weeks. They will get a rookie QB that will be on the road.  The Panthers have a good pass rush and a better secondary, with Stephon Gilmore potentially looking to have a career revenge game against the team that just traded him away.

Las Vegas Raiders @ New York Giants

Yahoo Rostership: 11%
Opposition Rank vs D/ST: 12th

Coming off the bye week, this defense should be available on your waiver wire.  They have a minimum of 2 sacks each week and the Giants’ offensive line is poor.  The Giants’ skill positions have been depleted and the Raiders’ secondary has been relatively good this season.  With Daniel Jones still known for turning the ball over, this could be a week winner if you were relying on the Buccaneers’ D/ST for the earlier portion of the season.

I was asked to join a fantasy football league in High School and I haven't been the same since. I love the competitive nature, the communities it builds, and the thinking and content that can be created. I am hoping to connect to larger audiences in helping them grow into becoming knowledgable managers and I am open to discussions.
