Week 4 Stats
Ronald Jones – 17% Snaps, RB41
Robby Anderson – 84% Snaps, WR50
Jonnu Smith – 47% Snaps, TE14
Despite scoring a TD in Week 4, Ronald Jones finished outside of the RB3 rankings for Week 4. Robby ended the week with 11 targets but was only able to turn them into 5 catches for 46 yards. Jonnu scored a TD to save his week, definitely the trend this season with Tight Ends.
I still feel confident in the players I suggested dropping last week, and I feel even better about these next players. We have more data to look at their trending usages and will continue to help you decide on who to drop for your rosters.
Kenyan Drake – RB – Las Vegas Raiders
Yahoo Rostership: 66%
Full PPR Rankings: RB41
Snap Trend: 48% → 71% → 43% → 35% → 18%
Signed a nice contract in the offseason, fans were hoping that he would play a significant role in the passing game in this offense. With Josh Jacobs hurt, he got a chance to earn more snaps but lost out to Peyton Barber. Week 5, two rushes for 11 yards and 1 target for someone that was signed to a 2 years $14.5 million contract isn’t a good sign for his role going forward. Drop with confidence.
Mecole Hardman – WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Yahoo Rostership: 43%
Full PPR Rankings: WR59
Snap Trend: 69% → 78% → 65% → 52% → 69%
Target Trend: 9% → 27% → 10% → 10% → 22%
This offense has been well established now. Patrick Mahomes feeds Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, then Clyde Edwards-Helaire gets the rushes and occasional targets. The other skill positions will occasionally get some big games or plays, but that is who will get the consistent points weekly in the Chiefs offense. So what is the obsession with Mecole Hardman? He is a fast, big-play receiver but has yet to earn the trust from Andy Reid to get more focus in this offense. They signed Josh Gordon to get WR2 targets in this offense, that’s how you know the team has moved on from Mecole as a piece of this offense.
Don’t Go Chasing Points! As a long-time Chiefs fan, I know the temptation to pick up Mecole will be this week in waivers. You have to understand, not all defenses can do what Buffalo did. They shut down Kelce and Hill, CEH got hurt and the weather was severe in the second half. Mecole benefited from that defense taking away their top weapons, it won’t happen each week.
Robert Tonyan – TE – Green Bay Packers
Yahoo Rostership: 69%
Full PPR Rankings: TE29
Snap Trend: 49% → 43% → 73% → 78% → 59%
Target Trend: 12% → 11% → 3% → 20% → 5%
If you drafted Robert Tonyan to be a set it and forget it Tight End this season, you probably are wishing you forget you drafted him. His best finish this season was Week 2 against the Lions but outside of that, he hasn’t topped 10 yards in the other 3 games! This potentially could have seen coming, with Aaron Rodgers advocating to get back Randall Cobb, potentially taking away Tonyan’s role from 2020 that saw him receive 11 touchdowns. Drop him with confidence, follow my article’s for streaming options for Tight Ends and you will have a better chance at getting points each week.
