Accountability Check – Week 6
Kenyan Drake – 21% Snaps, RB9 LOL
Mecole Hardman – 60% Snaps, WR50
Robert Tonyan – 63% Snaps, TE37
I really hope you needed to start Kenyan Drake and got his best output for possibly the season. On just 6 total touches, he turned that into 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. In no way is that sustainable and I would still advise to drop him, or at the very least bench him until another injury/bye week deems necessary. I was correct in telling everyone to not chase points with Mecole Hardman and Tonyan should be dropped in every league, he is riding on his production from last year and hasn’t come close to the same kind of production.
As more and more injuries pop up, and bye weeks are hitting even harder, it’s imperative that you clean up your bench and start to optimize at every position. Here are 3 more candidates you can look to drop to help unclog your roster.
Devin Singletary (RB – Buffalo Bills)
Yahoo Rostership: 79%
Full PPR Rankings: RB37
Snap Trend: 75% → 66% → 43% → 44% → 26% → 45%
Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 29 → 12 → 53 → 35 → 59 → 31
Devin is on a bye week and a timeshare in the Bills backfield dominated by Zack Moss, it seems relevant to bring up Devin’s roster ability. With one Top 12 finish this season, Devin hasn’t finished higher than RB29 in any other week. A handcuff at best but the Bills offense has returned to the pass first option and Moss has shown to get the goal-line work. Potential value with Dawson Knox’s injury but with a bye week, we will not know for 2 weeks.
Nelson Agholor (WR – New England Patriots)
Yahoo Rostership: 30%
Full PPR Rankings: WR63
Snap Trend: 85% → 86% → 81% → 73% → 67% → 59%
Target Trend: 18% → 10% → 16% → 13% → 13% → 14%
Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 23 → 71 → 87 → 57 → 69 → 79
I was shocked to see Nelson’s rostership above 10%. What are we even doing here? In very deep leagues, I can see having him rostered but this is too high. Are we chasing his week 1 performance, with a WR23 finish for the week? His snap counts have dropped each week and the passing volume in that offense is getting smaller as well. With an Average Target percentage of 14% as well, it just isn’t enough volume to start regularly and you will never feel comfortable starting him. I understand bye weeks are brutal this time of year but just not Nelson.
Austin Hooper (TE – Cleveland Browns)
Yahoo Rostership: 69%
Full PPR Rankings: TE29
Snap Trend: 64% → 69% → 60% → 72% → 72% → 75%
Target Trend: 11% → 24% → 10% → 15% → 0% → 11%
Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 27 → 14 → 15 → 43 → 52 → 48
Austin’s snaps are increasing, which is always ideal for fantasy but it hasn’t translated to production. Probably from being asked to block more and more with the injuries to their o-line and the presence of David Njoku for pass-catching, Hooper has produced 2 catches for 15 yards over the last 3 weeks. Until the TEBC (still copyrighted by me) calms down, Hooper isn’t startable, let alone rostered in most formats.
Slow Drainers
A new addition to my article this week, I wanted to start looking at players that potentially aren’t droppable but are getting close to it. This will highlight a player that hasn’t produced, makes you nervous to start but just can’t be dropped.
Tyler Boyd (WR – Cincinnati Bengals)
Yahoo Rostership: 87%
Full PPR Rankings: WR42
Snap Trend: 74% → 87% → 79% → 62% → 82% → 62%
Target Trend: 15% → 30% → 33% → 34% → 13% → 10%
Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 74→ 34 → 30 → 9 → 68 → 98
The PPR darling of 2020, Tyler Boyd has fallen out of favor in this offense. With the arrival of Ja’Marr Chase and the lowered passing volume for the Bengals, Boyd has been reduced to bench-able. His increase in production and targets directly correlated to Tee Higgins being inactive from injury, Boyd has become a WR handcuff at best. You will never drop him, and with bye weeks you may need to play him as well. Just lower the expectations on his production.
