Accountability Check – Week 8
Trey Sermon – 0% Snaps, Not Ranked
Allen Robinson – 80% Snaps, WR70
Odell Beckham Jr. – 73% Snaps, WR103
Sony Michel – 30% Snaps, RB40
Trey Sermon failed to see the field for the second week in a row, looking like Elijah has a stranglehold on this backfield. Jeff Wilson also starting to practice again as well, drop him, please. Allen Robinson and Odell Beckham Jr. without being traded at the deadline mean they are not startable in their current roles in their perspective offenses. Unless you are using Sony Michel to handcuff, go ahead and move on from him.
As we get through these players, you think I would be running out of selections. You would be dead wrong! I got another 3 players that can hit the waiver wire and 1 more potential slow drainer.
Sam Darnold (QB – Carolina Panthers)
Yahoo Rostership: 31%
Full PPR Rankings: QB16
Last 5 Weeks Completion % Trend: 66.7% → 56.8% → 41.5% → 64.0% → 54.2%
Last 5 Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 1 → 29 → 15 → 26 → 23
I haven’t listed anyone this year because of injury but this I feel has more to do with timing and his performance. Sam has fallen very far from his QB1 performance in Week 4 and hasn’t been the same without Christian McCaffrey. With him potentially out this week with a concussion, Carolina will get a chance to try out PJ Walker and see if they can start trending in the right direction again.
Laviska Shenault Jr. (WR – Jacksonville Jaguars)
Yahoo Rostership: 57%
Full PPR Rankings: WR58
Last 5 Snap Trend: 65% → 75% → 73% → 79% → 68%
Last 5 Target Trend: 12% → 29% → 9% → 24% → 7%
Last 5 Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 54 → 20 → 64 → 35 → 76
For someone that had a lot of hype coming into the season, Laviska has yet to really earn many meaningful targets this year. Jamal Agnew is starting to get more involved and Dan Arnold and Marvin Jones have carved out their roles as well. Laviska is starting to fade away and Trevor Lawrence attempted 54 passes last week but only had 4 targets. Look to find another player with more upside than what Shenault has currently.
Gerald Everett (TE – Seattle Seahawks)
Yahoo Rostership: 26%
Full PPR Rankings: TE34
Last 3 Snap Trend: 48% → 59% → 77%
Last 3 Target Trend: 9% → 14% → 8%
Last 3 Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 27 → 25 → 52
Only going back 3 weeks since Gerald has missed 2 weeks with COVID, he really hasn’t proven to be an additional weapon in the receiving game like a lot of people were hoping. His snaps have been trending up, but Geno Smith hasn’t looked his way very much. Russell Wilson coming back after their bye week may help, but prior to his COVID weeks, he had minimal usage as well. There are better streaming options, which you can find out in my weekly articles here at The Undroppables!
Slow Drainers
This section has proven to be fruitful, and there is a great candidate this week to add to the article. Remember, this is advising to drop the player but to monitor their next week’s usage.
Kenneth Gainwell (RB – Philadelphia Eagles)
Yahoo Rostership: 63%
Full PPR Rankings: RB36
Last 5 Snap Trend: 39% → 24% → 23% → 51% → 31%
Last 5 Positional Weekly Finishes(PPR): 7 → 58 → 67 → 20 → 63
Miles Sanders out for a few weeks, Detroit Lions in Week 8, and coaching staff talking up Kenneth made him a smash start for several managers. How did he do you ask? Boston Scott and Jordan Howard stealing most of the work in the first 3 quarters with each scoring 2 touchdowns. Kenneth getting most of the garbage time carries after a blowout and we are all left confused about what happened. Monitor how Week 9 usage goes, if this is how the coaching staff views their success is running the rock with these two, or will it go back to the passing attack with Gainwell as the receiving back.
