Injuries got you down? Players you thought would be studs are playing like duds? COVID attacking entire rosters in your sleep? Well then you came to the right place. We will take a little walk through who is available on the waiver wire this week. That will help you plug those holes in your line ups for Week 4.
NOTE: This column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo leagues.
Quarterbacks
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Rostered in 7% of Yahoo leagues. Last week Fitzpatrick was a potential add. This week, he moves up into a must-add if you are QB needy. When the (Fitz)Magic met the (Minshew) Mania on Thursday Night Football, the Magic won out. FitzMagic passed for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for another 38 yards and a touchdown. What is truly magical is Fitzpatrick gets a Seattle Defense that is giving up the most yards and second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Looks like a Magic Money Maker to me.
Running Backs
Jeff Wilson – 23% rostered in Yahoo. Late in the game against the Giants, McKinnon hurt his ribs and did not return. Wilson ran for 15 yards and a touchdown and had another 54 yards and a touchdown receiving. If McKinnon is missing time with the rest of the Niners, Wilson will be next man up against the Eagles, who give up 102 yards rushing per game.
Carlos Hyde – 19% rostered in Yahoo. In Seattle’s win over the Cowboys on Sunday, they lost Chris Carson late in the game to a knee sprain. It appears Carson will be a out a couple of weeks and Hyde is his clear back up. Hyde has handled a heavy work load in the past, gaining over 1000 yards last season with Houston. He will fair well in the Seahawks high-powered offense.
Myles Gaskin – 47% rostered in Yahoo. Gaskin is doing it all as the starter in Miami. In Week 3 he had 66 yards on 22 carries and had 5 receptions for 29 yards. I’m actually surprised he’s still available in so many leagues.
Other Running Backs to consider: Rex Burkhead
Wide Receivers
Justin Jefferson – 31% rostered in Yahoo. Jefferson saw a 33% target share from Kirk Cousins in Week 3. That equated to 9 targets for 7 receptions, 175 yards and a touchdown. This was Jefferson’s coming out party.
Brandon Aiyuk – 28% rostered in Yahoo. The Niners were looking for players to produce in Week 3 because of their rash of injuries. Aiyuk answered the call with 5 receptions for 70 yards on 8 targets. He also saw 3 carries for 31 yards and a score, so he should remain involved this way until Deebo Samuel returns at full health.
Tee Higgins – 5% rostered in Yahoo. Higgins was targeted 9 times, which he turned into 5 receptions for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns. Higgins got it done on the outside in Week 3 for the Bengals. Look for more of this as the Bengals are starving for playmakers.
Greg Ward – 1% rostered in Yahoo. Ward appears to have passed rookie Jalen Reagor on the depth chart in Week 3, as he had 11 targets resulting in 8 receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown. Ward led the team with a 24% target share as well.
Other Wide Receivers to consider: Allen Lazard, Andy Isabella, Braxton Berrios and Corey Davis.
Tight Ends
Mo Alie-Cox – Rostered in 10% of Yahoo leagues. Big Mo was in this article last week too. In Week 2, Mo Alie-Cox had 6 targets for 5 catches and 111 yards. He followed that up in Week 3 with 3 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. If you need tight end help, I would look to Mo Alie-Cox.
Other Tight Ends to consider: Dalton Schultz and Logan Thomas.
